Cast shadows?

I 'm having trouble doing cast shadows, sepcifically on the figure. for example, i can do the shadows on the planes of the face but not the cast shadow created by the head on the figure..any advice?

hey stephen,

easiest way to understand it is just to have a friend sit down or get into a pose you need and then shine a light on them. try it from different angles and observe what happens. remember, the best reference is from life.

There is a general solution...draw the scene from the light's point of view; your shadowed surfaces will be hidden by overlapping.

But draw from life as much as possible.
