Hello everyone,
A bit o' background: My name is Tyler. I am a fourth year illustration student at ACAD. I'll be done in just four very short months. Now that's a scary thought.

I bought a tablet about two days ago and this character design marks my near first foray into digital illustration of this sort. What do you think of her? She is a pencil drawing scanned and painted digital.

I'd say it's a very fine "I just got my first tablet" piece. Looks like you'll be off and running with it in no time. Reminds me of Derek Hess' work. Which is a good thing. My critically speaking I would have liked to see the right wing wrap around like the left. It would frame her body and make the composition more cohesive. I like your color choices. Thanks.

nice and stylized, just 1 comment, her left wing kinda breaks down her pose. I guess you made it bent like that, because you wanted to show more wing, because the char. is placed right from the center. I think when you open up the wing the picture becomes a lot stronger.

good luck with finishing school!

Love the colors and the linework.
The only thing that I am a bit confused about is the lightning. There are some
areas where it doesn't seem to be right. (for example the inner side of the right
wing, where the wing wraps around.) Where does the light exactly come from?
But I am absolutely not a professional so don't take my opinion too serious.
