I apologize for the confusion (bad joke I guess). This is another piece in a series of creature concepts I have been working on in the last year or so. I just found it amusing...

That looks pretty amazing!
I'd just like to know how you made it; is it purely digital painting, is it 3D, is it a bit of both, is it photomanip with some painting over, or is it some/all/none of the above?
Either way, I'm impressed with the 3D, 'lifelike' feel of it.
BUT, I think it looks like the 'animals' are pasted onto the background though. I think the grass where they stand should be less blurred, and there's a strange shadow on the left side of the one to the left.
Nice work anyhow. :)

First i thought the top ones foreleg is stuck in the other creatures body...

Yes, that was my very first impression too. Took a while for me to get my head around it.
Maybe do something to that leg; define it some more, and maybe add some 'nails', like on an elephant foot?

i personally thing it's cooler picturing it as it's hand is stuck in the body. I thought that because it looks like the bottom animal is screaming in pain. I would also define the background more, sharper quality trees and such.

The technique I used was a combination of 3d and 2d painting (similar to the process used in a 2.5-D matte painting). I created a rough 3d model using sub-division in Electric Image and then applied several projection-mapped textures that I painted in Photoshop. The details and background were painted in Photoshop after the final render in Electric Image. This a quick way of getting that "3d feeling" in a 2d image.
Davi and John P.- Thanks! Yeah, the background still needs work. I was playing with a bunch of different looks and I am still not happy with it. Thanks for pointing out the weaker areas –that was extremely helpful.
Fozzy- Yeah, some people seem to have trouble making sense of the feet. They are supposed to be elephant-like. I will define them more as John suggested.
Thanks guys!

What a startling image you have here!!! I agree with all of the issues above with it being hard to read or understand...
But the overall look you have going - you could really do something with this. It's realistic enough that your bizarre monsters are uncomfortable to look at --- but in a cool way. I think the way you did the eyes really helps to sell the monsters believability. They're downright gross looking! hehe. I like them!
Oh! I just noticed the fur/fuzz on their backs. The have a kind of old man "scrotal" look!!! Hehe... Cool!

I don't know. I'm pretty freaked about it, their faces trip me out. I'm gonna have frickin nightmares tonight. It kinda brings back memories of some horrible b flick I accidentaly saw when I was a kid.
I say put these two in desaturated colors, a gothic environment of crude SnM tools and I'd buy it.
