When the sub-light generation ship "hopeful1" was finally found the people inside had become so adapted to life aboard the ship they had branched away from the terrestrial humans. Natural Interbreeding was impossible between Homo Sapiens and Homo Pandeo "Suspended man."
With their brittle bones, eyes and skin adapted to artificial light and with new experiences assaulting their senses, any Pandeos that stepped off their ship had to be rushed to a hospital
