Since I've started thinking seriously about making a portfolio I've been worried about what to put in the resume. I'm self-taught, I studied computer science and worked as a programmer and software designer for the past years, so I don't really have much related to art to put in it. I don't think employees would be the least interested in my previous work experience because it isn't art-related at all so maybe it's better to just ignore the resume? What do you think?

Any kind of work experience shows that you at least know how to hold a job so it's a good idea to include it.
A short one page resume is fine. It's just an information sheet on you that a potential employer can use.
There are good things to be said about a short resume, and thinking people will recognize that it takes time to build a real impressive history.
Just make sure you list your name address phone number and e-mail, What you are currently doing or consider your current skills, then your job history in reverse, then your education and that's it.
Good luck

Thanks for the advice Gilead, I'll do that, even though it won't be the most impressive resume it'll be the truth. Let's hope potential employees will appreciate my past working history.

A resume should be quick, short & blunt. List what you do well and no elaborations needed. Sometimes resumes get glimpsed at by the people that are doing the hiring and then just go on file with the Human Resources people depending on the size of the place you're applying to.
Yes, it's important to have one- it's a part of your corporate look. Proofread everything twice and then have someone else read it to you aloud. God forbid you have a typo in it!
Good luck with it all!
