The space shuttle Crusader's third mission, STS-251, was to carry the AAKV1 (AnAerobic Kill Vehicle) and monitor it's progress 24 hours a day on it's 6 day journey to Kilborne - the 720km diamater asteroid, headed on a collison coarse with earth.
Later, one of the astronauts guiding the AAKV1 described the experience: "it was like driving at night, while looking through a straw"
