How did conceptart.org come to be?

I mean, I know its Jason't site, but was it his alone. Did him and the other mods put it together. For example, how did davi become a mod? I'm just curios.?.?...

Another small wonder... is Jason paying for the name, site, and host all by himself, just for the good of everyone?

well i've been here since about the first week or so. about becoming mods...i think people that were here for a long time and stayed active and weren't complete weiners became trustworthy.

i became mod in the guest SP section b/c i was doing ports all the time (i know, i know...must do more).

i believe the origial pioneer was jason as you said, but at the beginning it was just jason, puddn, james, andrew, justin and nathan on the title page.

yeah...andrew and I take turns paying for it. I pay for and own the domain. Andrew is my main partner in crime. :)

andrew and I decided to put up a site where the up and comers could gather. We wanted to have a more structured art resource than sijun. Our main motivation was to have a place where all the pros could bounce ideas off each other while at the same time creating a link to the student world which was not there before.

I think we all wanted to teach as well.

Pontemonti and Leia built and designed the site. Ponte put all the forum stuff together. Without them we would not have this. Ponte keeps the wheels turning. Leia rebuilt the site when we lost it all in the big crash last summer.

Ponte also owned the largest news site for Black Isle Studios and Bioware. At one point I did an interview with him while I was there and announced the site. It wasnt built. I checked and there were a lot of visits even though we had nothing to show. I spent the next week putting it all together with the two above. I badgered the other pros on the site to send me their stuff....and there ya have it.

kieth is right about the mods...some people are just around all the time and want to help...we are all volunteers here. I couldnt have the site without all of you.

Hey, just curious about the Donato Gianocola/Conceptart.org connection?

Last year he came down to Richmond and gave a great talk at VCU and a painting demonstration later on. I was really impressed with his work. Inspiring and a great teacher.
