Face Spewing Tentacles with progress pics(big dl)

I started with some sketches in my sketchbook then went into photoshop and made a mocket:

Then started my face. Making the face at a higher saturation and tentacles less so the tentacles don't lead you away from the face focal point.

sweet. i think the photoshop one had a better color choice, the contrast made it more interesting, also because the squid is green and the face is yellow it seperates the two things. In the painted version they kind of look like its one element and not someone spitting it out.

Thanks alot for the replies. Yeah the lightsoure is wonky.
Sterlingcrispin: The problem with the contrast of the photoshop pic is I wanted to make the face the main focal point. I dropped the saturation on the tentacles and they get less saturated as they move to the right so they won't pull your eye off the face. Photoshop contast made them compete too much but I didn't realize that on the computer.

Freakin' badass, although I think it'd look even better if you continued rendering the face to look a bit more finished like the tentacles. It's still nice and stylistic now, but I can't help wonder if it would look even cooler fully rendered.
