I'm going to be drawing in OC(open canvas, free art program) daily a new statue, mostly greek ones, just to help with anatomy, poses, and so on. I just got my wacom so they aren't anything special yet, and i haven't attempted color yet so bare with me.

Here is the first: 40 minutes

(yes he has club foot, i didn't have the feet on the page when i was doing the piece so it came out bad)

I've also bought myself two statues - for practice reasons.
One of them I've already sketched on my task - see the lower forum sector  (it's a replica of Moses by Michelangelo -the other one is more complex for me right now. I've made some sketches but the result is too ugly and as I care for this community I've decided not to post them (I already feel guilty for posting my crap in here) :)
So keep it up - maybe I'll catch some tips.

ooo, i found an awesome picture of Moses by Michelangelo, might do it but i'm not too sure. I've always wanted to have some replicas, they would so clash with my african mask collection though, but who cares :D

yes im looking at them too davi, im wondering if your drawing the statues in a muesum then scanning and painting or are you working from photos?

heh thanks guys, i was just getting jealous of android's replies. :(

right now i'm just going from photo reference. I just got my wacom 7 days ago and i've never painted nor done any digital work before so this is all completely new to me. Working from reference is helping me learn how to color and such, i figure it will be alot easier to learn how to color for reference then trying to rush into making things up. I do alot of these with a friend and he has never had experience with life drawing so i'm teaching him how to treat pictures like these as life by doing jestures and such.

Soon, i hope i'm going to request to use a digital camera of my brother's girlfriend and take some pictures at the cleveland meusem of art and use them. I want to get some artsy and hard angles with good lighting.

this is at the meusem and it's one of my favorite pieces, so I hope it's out(they have so many things there they rotate objects), so i can photo it.

this is a pos i worked on yesterday and gave up on

this is me trying to learn how blend colors... I'll do more work on it later, like taking away the outline and adding a rock background, but i didn't feel like taking the time right now.

Could you tell me where I can downlad that? I heared its some cool prog.

Nice work on the statues, I can see you're making progress allready. (Red woman is really great, maybe a tiny bit of shadowing in the surroudings, to overcome the two styles in one pic thing)

Cheers, jeroentje

Hey Davi nice drawings! I think you're getting better. The pose you gave up on looks like the best one out of the group to me. I would finish that one.

Oh yah, and post a link to the original image... that's the only way to get a real critique. That's what I'm doing with anohter thread for pen sketching.

Hey davi, neat thread.

I love the red female figure. I recently did a self portrait using similar colours.

Keep it up man. You should time how long these take, I'm curious.

they take about an hour, since i'm new to painting, i think i'm pretty much done doing them for awhile, i was hoping they would teach me how to paint but no one really was giving crits or anything so i wasn't advancing.
