Don't ask me why no one has replied to your pic.

I think it's good. :)

I don't really get any story from it - that is, I don't really see why he's standing there on an 'island' in thin air, other than as an artistic choice. So personally I would've liked it better if it had a background and he was standing in a graveyard.

But I don't know what this drawing has been used for, if anything, so.

As for crits(except what I just mentioned), I guess I don't really have much, except I think that if he is going to strike someone with that pole, either to cast a fiery ball at them or strike them physically, he would hold the pole further down - not so high up.

So I guess both my crits are actually personal preferences, so do with them as you please.

:)

have to agree with john p, it's technically very good, but there are just some wierd things with it...

first of all, where is the corpse buried in that island (the corpse that's grabbing the guy's foot)?

second, why is this on a white background? something this undead has to be occurring at night (accenuates the torch light, makes it look evil-er), no?

plus, that eye glint just doesn't sit right with me.

yeah, i'm un-necessarily harsh: it's well done, but i don't really like it.

Hey thanks for the great comments guys...

Jon P - "I don't really get any story from it - that is, I don't really see why he's standing there on an 'island' in thin air, other than as an artistic choice. So personally I would've liked it better if it had a background and he was standing in a graveyard."

If you are looking for a story then you are probably looking into it too much. The "island" is purely an artisitic exploration. I didn't want to extend the image out to the very edges of the frame.

The pic isn't being used for anything BTW. Just a fun thing I did when I had time on my hands. Nothing deep, just fun.

Soupface - "something this undead has to be occurring at night " Does it really? Does it say that in the Encyclopedia Britannica or the 2003 Artists manual? You are right, a night setting may indeed make the scene more ominous and scary but I chose to do a daylight picture for something different. Just a personal decision. It doesn't have to be any set formula.

"yeah, i'm un-necessarily harsh: it's well done, but i don't really like it." That's ok. The great thing is you don't have to like it. I wouldn't say "unnecessarily harsh" your comments are personal preferences so you can say whatever you want. :)
