Hia guys, i'v decided for christmas i would like a set of oils. But im lost really. Before i'v done some work with acrylics but i would really like to make a start with oils, ESPECIALLY flesh tones. So... is there like a particular set for fleshtones ? ie a set that doesnt contain green and blue (even though they could still be used), but im talking standard browns etc. Any advice on what to do ? Some brush advise wouldnt go a miss too. thanks in advance :)

you should have at least a set of primary colours and black and white.....you`ll need more white than any other colour.....
i use cadmium red, lemon yellow, ultramarine blue.....and lamp black and titanium white......
all colours can be achieved using these........
i use hog brushes mostly with oils as they wear better and last longer.....

Having a warm and cool version of each primary really helps, and yes get a huge tube of titanium white. Here is my current oil set:
Bright Red
Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Yellow
Yellow Ochre
Cobalt Blue
Ultramarine Blue
Ivory Black
Titanium White (with zinc)
I also have a few browns just so I don't have to mix them:
Burnt Siena
Raw Umber
Like krispee said you could get away with only the primaries, but you will be spending more time mixing stuff. For figure painting and flesh tones I find Yellow Ochre indispensable... this is my second most used color other than white. As for brushes I simply use 3 different sized filberts, 1 medium/large flat brush, a small round for detail work and occasionally a fan brush.

i concur with Chingwa on the other colours.....i absolutely love yellow ochre and raw umber and burnt sierra......and alizarin as well.....
but i also use permanent magenta on accasion and coeruleum blue......and some greens like terre verte and viridian.....
i tend to use a different range of brushes but it`s what`s comfortable to you that matters i guess.....and i also use riggers
and i buy 225 ml tubes of white at a time....
sorry i didn`t expand before, don`t always have the time to spend in here......wish i could
