I've come to the point where I'd like to have a Wacom Intuos3. However, I can't seem to decide between the 6x8 or the 9x12. I figured 9x12 would be best since it's mostly like a sheet of paper...but I don't know. What do you guys use? Doesn't necessarilly have to be a Wacom, or 6x8/9x12.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much,

Ian

I use a 6x8 Intuos 2. It works fine, but I find myself going right to the very edge of it. A 9x12 would give you a little bit of a cushion, let you free up a bit.
I'm not sold yet on the Intuos 3 yet, it seems that your money is paying for bells and whistles more than updated technology.

Thats my 2 cents.

Happy hunting.

If you can afford the bigger tablets then I say go for it. It's better for your health by making larger movements with your arm then smaller movements with your wrist. I went from a 4x5 graphire to a 9x12 Intuos 2 and I love it. The con of owning a larger tablet is it will take up a larger chunck of your desk space. But for me it was worth it.

Good luck.

yeah I've been looking into getting a tablet, I can only afford the small ones though, (as I'm only sixteen getting student wage).

I'll look into the differences between Intuos3 and 2... since it's free of charge to me I could get the 3, but I don't want a certain someone to spend extra money for something that isn't worth it. Seem's to be that the 9x12 is the way to go. I tried drawing on 6x8 little notecard type things, seemed really restricted, so I'll definitely get a 9x12 it seems. Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming.

Any info on the Intuos2 would be awesome, I'd love to hear what you guys think about it.

Hrmm, this is turning into quite the research project.

I've found a Platinum 9x12 Intuos2 for $370 and a 9x12 Intuos3 for $370... both brand new in the retail box with everything.

:\

Any thoughts?

Ok dude, here's the deal....

A 6X8 Wacom can only work well up to 1280X1024, beyond that your cursor will start to wobble because the area cannot translate into the smaller pixels if you go any higher....meaning if 1mmX1mm sensor on the wacom = 1 pixel on 1280X1024 (for example)...then if you increase the screen resolution, 1mmx1mm will represent 4 pixels or more....therefore the cursor will not know which pixel its on when it sits on that 1mmX1mm and it will wobble. ITs not a problem until you try to draw a straight line. :teeth:

The 9X12 would solve this problem and there are no wobbly cursor issues at resolutions up to 1600X1200 (which is possibily the standard max res for many graphic cards under windows mode).

If you can find a 9X12 Intuos (II or III doesn't matter) for a good price...and if you have the space to accomodate it, you should consider it.

If anything, Wacom has streamlined their technology and production for the tablets, hence Wacom II and III are about the same retail price so its a bonus to get a Wacom III.....but I dunno how easy are the sensor strips to use as compared to keyboard shortcuts.

Death Massacre, your post helped a lot, so did everyone else's. Since they're the same price I've decided to go with the Intuos3 9x12.

Thanks sooo much for your help, guys.

i am also considering buying a wacom. But some people told me, the 6x8 would be better, because your arms dont get so tired ^^ You can also carry it aound with you notebook easily.. So I am stuck.. I could get a 6x8 for almost the same price as the 9x12 or even 12x12, but dont know which one to buy... :\
