air port question:
I plan on brining my easel (just for painting in the apt) doubt I’ll be many enough to drag it along for all the workshops, so will the air port give me any lip about bringing tube paint? I know turp is not allowed at all. Has anyone have any trouble with brining tube paint before?

well, I was thinking about bringing some turpetine, too. But as I read flammable liquids were not allowed on airplanes, including "painting" materials, I was pretty shocked. But hey, if you need turp or whatever, you can buy a small bottle at some local art store in SF, can't ya?

no turps, no mediums. Call your airline, as each one has slightly different rules. also, www.tsa.gov has general info.
I got oils to Italy for studying abroad, and i'll find out if i can get them back this Sunday... oy.
I got Tria inks in Italy and now I'm trying to very neatly trim off all the "this shit will blow up" labels. hope i can get that back to the u.s... mmm maybe i'll have to ship it. the flashpionts are low and i dont feel like dying
if you have/ care to use acrylics why dont you bring them instead, then you wont having to be extra careful with paintings that wont dry or about security.

|NTeRN - thanks so much... i was getting worried reading about all the flashpoint stuff, but i'm sure it'll be ok. i'm thinking i'll just have them in cargo pants while i go through security so i dont get any questions and seal them up in my carry on before i board. there's no way i'm shipping anything since its starts at 61 EURO to ship a package and who knows if i would even get it. europe is so expensive.

Thanks for the input guys, personally I hate acrylics (just can’t use them for crap) but that is a good point about wet canvases, so I might just go with acrylics since it seems to satisfy both worlds of ease.
thanks!

i tend to treat acrylics as though they're water colors, and theyre good to speedpaint from life with, since its a little tougher to muddy them up.

yea i never had problems with my trias (tripple baggied) or with my copic pens/refills consideing they are also flamable. as for paints but them in your checked bag and you should not have issues. or you could always send them to the hotel where your staying at.
