Hey everyone! I've been a trendy visitor to the site, dropping in here and there. I'm just finishing my BS in computer science, and have been thinking about getting into computer animation. My problem is that I haven't done anything with art for about 5-6 years. I was real heavy into art when I was in high school, and had the bug my first year of college, but have really drifted away with doing anything with art at all now, with exception to doing some professional web design. I learned alot and progressed in leaps and bounds as an artist during my first year of college, finding my best growth in linear perspective and gestural drawing. I found a new love in figure drawing, and loved the challenge it delivered. Well, I'm 26 now and don't have any drawings to show for for the last 6 years. I want to get some of my figure drawings on here for u guys to critique, but all I have online is some drawings from high school. I want to post a couple, because I never got any C&C from anyone other than the hillbillies that I grew up with back in my old farm town community. I feel like this will be good for me. Whether the feedback is positive or negative, I think it will help inspire me to get back into working hard again with art.
Here's my first from my junior year of high school. It's an unfinished drawing of Christy Turlington.

Here's the second. This is a portrait I did of my girlfriend at the time. I was about 18-19 when I did this one.

Please feel free to tear them to pieces. I'll try to get something more current (even though they would be 6 years old >:| ) I feel like my figure drawings are ALOT better.

I'm sure you're on it already, but how about some simple sketches to see how you are today?!? I'm REALLY interested in seeing how your skill has detiriated over time, and I expect that you'll find youre first isn't half as bad as you expected, and it'll all come back to you after that. It's very hard to forget how to draw, because its not learning something off by heart, but learning how to do something...like swimming if you ask me. Even if youve forgotten where muscleinsertionpoints are par example, you'll still have the nice&steady lines that where on youre last piece!!
good luck, looking forward!
