My 2nd external HDD wouldn't work. The USB ports aren't getting any feedback from the HDD and the cardreader so my compact flash and SD cards are useless too. The USB works fine though coz my Wacom and Modem are still running good.

All my old artworks, anime, manga, music, digital photos and drivers are out of commission for the time being. I seriously hope its just the damn USB external shell that's killed and not the HDD itself. I have too much goodies on that HDD.

Just getting ready for the worst case scenario, does anyone here know of folks who can do physical HDD recovery (ie dismantling the HDD and transferring the files out) in the vicinity of Toronto? I can get back everything else probably...but its the photos that I'm pissed off about....they were mostly from my tours over the last 2 years and I don't have the damn budget to go again >:{ >:{

The lucky thing is all my current WIP files are on the good, internal HDD. If that thing goes too, then I'm really screwed.

Just for the future, it's always a good idea to have a main, and a backup drive. You have all your stuff on the main, with all of the essential stuff regularly copied to the backup. That way if one of them goes, you always have the other to recover the files from.

One thing at a time...current work in progress are more important....most of my old stuff are back home in singapore so I can always scan them again. Just damned tedious.

This time though its the backup that failed so it's still not too bad.
