Due to the sage advice of a member on this forum I highly respect *coughAndrewAnimation.comcoughhack* I have sat back and begun to work on diversification of my portfolio. As far as the feed-back reads, my only real issue now is anatomy, which as a whole should not be too difficult to master using the appropriate sources. There's also the issue of attempting anime/manga style art, to which I have had some success.
The real issue, however, is obtaining exposure when I get to the point where I have enough panache to show my work. What steps do I take to get myself exposed? Artist resources inasmuch as literature goes can be helpful, I will be buying some guides from Amazon when funding is properly allocated towards beneficial expenditures... I almost choked on those words. Aside from that, where to go, what to do, how to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAARGH!!!! :ninja++: :ninja++: :ninja: :ninja++: :ninja++:

So i Just picked up the 2005 Children's Writers and Illustrators Market, and besides being a valueable resource it has some interviews with various authors and illustrators. So the one thing that really caught my eye was this answer to a question that basically said (this should be comon sence) If your skills are not up to par worry about getting them to wherre they need to be instead of worrying about the best font for your logo, or the kill fee clause in your personal contract.
Work on that anatomy, perfect your anime style. Show your work to everyone you can get your hands on. and not just your mom or your sister, show the work to artists, your heros, and everyone here at CA. The more you're out there and the more friends you make while still developing your skills will help you with the exposure thing later on. After that, start marketing yourself. Get a website and promote it like there's no tomorrow. Print some postcards and business cards and wallpaper your city. send out samples of your work to plases you would like to work for. and do this often (every 3 months)
remember to try and try again. Its fucking tough out here. I've been out here doing this for almost 3 years now and I've gotten no real results yet. But i'm still trying. Never give up.
Weeeee, after that pep talk who can sleep? (note: writing this at 5:00 AM)

Posting on forums is a good way to get exposure. ;)
Put up a portfolio website, and link to that in your signature for forum posts and emails. Hand out business cards to everybody you meet!

AWWWWWWWWW thanks!!! hahahahahahahahhaha
yea, art kitty is right! if you havent done that stuff, that's definitely step one. 3d is a pretty quick way to get a job these days too. then u can apply to jobs on www.awn.com and www.gamesutra.com. if 3d's not your answer, then i'd reluctantly recommend schooling to get your 2d to where it needs to be, but MAN is it easier to get a 3d gig!
art kitty, how did u get that part of ur name that says 'Shrinks when washed'? i want that

Knocking back all that anatomy has paid off in small dividends even in Wyoming. I appreciate all the advice from you folks. Watch me as I go and give me all the advice you can.
