Nice work Mitch! I love the atmosphere added by the light falling across the floor and backdrop!
My only dissenting crit/opinion is just one thing. I feel like the woman's dress is laying a little too flat on her lap, a little too "heavy" perhaps? Like I said though, just my opinion.
This stuff you've been posting lately is great, keep up the great work!!!

Wow. All the details!!
I'm sure I could find something to crit, but sometimes I just don't feel like it.
This is one of those moments.
A lot of thought seems to have gone into this.
Beautiful stuff. :)
What size is the original?

All of the different textures and the superb lighting make this piece kick-ass, my friend!:D
Great Work.

Thanx guys
Smeagol> I was trying to make it appear very light like silk/satin. I might have to research this a bit more. thanks.
John P. > thanks! this piece is 10 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches or 27.5 cm x 19.8 cm. done on 100lb. bristol board with pencil. I did do alot of work with the electric eraser as before but I found it a bit easier to get the real nice details using wacom/ photoshop/ dodge tool. to get it the hilights in the small areas like the elf warrior's armor. But I didn't over do it in PS because I wanted it to be very similar to the original.
Soupy> thanx!

mccotie, great piece. some interesting bits beyond the main focus (the relief design behind her, the armour). very nice.

Ilike the tribal behind them, but the persons are little flat.

Yeah, I think you definitely caught the feel of silk in that dress. That's definitely a hard fabric to render. I guess with a little further study what bothers me is the weight of the line between her legs, possibly a little at the crotch. I think what I was getting at before was that it seems as if she has the dress "tucked" between her legs. Just a minor observation.
Please don't get me wrong...this piece is incredible. I'm sure the client is very pleased!!!

Mitch Mitch Mitch....you're killing me man. This is AWESOME. I love it man.
My only crit is a trend I see in a lot of your pieces...you don't go for as full a range of values as I think you could. I upped the contrast on this particular one to show you what I mean.

With it more contrasty those shadows on the back just jump out. I would try to go for a fuller range of value and I think it will help the look of your pencil drawings even more. Take or leave this advice...your work is still awesome.

Mitch, that Celtic design in the background is absolutely wonderful! Most characters look good but as Yaseck says, some of them look flat. I think that the old crone, the second woman on the left (the one "behind") and the elf don't look "round" enough. However, I'm not half as good as you are and I have no idea how you could improve what I think I observed.

I like it,nice background,good work on
details,shading...good jop...I only have
little ``remark``on queens face, well looks flat
to me,and character(less?) somehow...looking
how you did rest of illustration(awesome) I`m
kinda sorry why you didn`t dedicate more time
on her character(body&dress are good,by me)
But don`t mind my saying, overall very good jop.

awesome...looks like somebody has LOTR on the mind. I see Legolas, Arwen, 2 of those knights from the battle of Helms Deep, and a female version of that guy that whispered to the king...Ah, who knows...maybe its just me :)

Thanks guys
MCM> aaaarrrggghhh.!!! I agree with you somewhat, but this example is a bit too "nuked", yeah?
the art director called for an ageless, elf queen. I thought it would be cool to give her that look kinda like the vamp queen from the movie queen of the damned. sort of void of expression, statuesque.
Hell Taxi> that makes sense, since the art director said all of these pieces are in a world that is " What if Sauron, won." element. that means there will be orcs, dwarves, elves, just to name a few. I tried to have the armor and stuff not look like Peter Jackson's vision and incorporate my own look to it. But elves will always be elves and dwarves will always be dwarves. The whole arrangement here is by request of "the man". just doin what I need tot do to make the green.
Here's another one that'll bring back some memories for you.

Hey Mitch...yeah that example is really nuked...way too much but I think you catch my drift... I always think of farts when I say that...oh well hehe...
This latest one is fat dude. That one guy got nailed in the head...ouch...sheesh. That's awesome. The only thing funky I noticed at first glance was the guy in the center running...his pose looks a bit off but this is a great piece man. Keep em coming these are fantastic.

hey mitch,
I'm by no means an expert...but I think you're looking for critique so here goes..
In the second image it looks like the perspective of one of the boats is a little off. the one on the left looks like it's getting smaller (which makes sense)...but the one on right stays the same size, although it seems like both boats are on about the same level. (I hope I'm making sense).
..other than that, I think both pieces are awsome. :chug:
