i decided not to render it or anything just kinda mark where the shadows are and stuff...i was more trying to get the basic likeness of him within the construction so thatway the rendering would just finalize the deal... his nose is a little small and its funny i didnt realize this untill i posted the pic. the ref is like 1.5inches in the magazine, and now that i blew it up i can see some mistakes alot better..:dead:
sooooo please give me some tips to getting a likeness and making it really feel like the person..
thanks

it's really good, but let me say one thing; the left part of the face besida the left eye is too large., the right size in that pic is midle eye(understood??)...I use to make the eyes a reference for the face, you should try it!!!lol

Sorry for my english :bashful:

You've mistakenly tried to proportion his face with straight lines. The axis of symmetry is curved. Refer to photo below. Try to determine the shapes instead of laying out a foundation based on your knowledge of the generic face. Use what you know, but don't let it keep you from seeing the reality.

It is not so wide as to demand major changes. At this stage I am only seeing a very angular look at his features. Nonetheless, be very happy with what you have, friend. This is a very nice face study, something not to scoff at!
Outside of that, I see the right section of his mouth not acting as simmetrically as the left. It changes his facial composition. Or maybe I'm just too tired

The face is to short. which makes everything wrong.

I don't really see a definite shape on the eyebrows, just put an indication where it is both located. Try to draw what you see, don't draw what you think you see. Try putting your drawing next to the picture and look at the comparisons. Get a drawing board and tape both on it, put it up on an easel and draw standing up. You might want to refer to this thread on Bargue drawing for Infohttp://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12104

klinesmoker- thanks alot  you helped me feel a little better about this study, and kinda want to do some more...

Warhead82- Ya, i think if i shave some width off of it (left side mosly) it shouldnt look so squished.. maybe that will help it.. :bashful:

patdzon- i was trying to just get a feel for where the eyebrows were with those masses.. but i definatly see what you are saying. I shoulda just indicated them with a line or something like that. Drawing what I see instead of what i think i see is alot harder than one would think huh :\

thanks alot guys... if i make any changes to it ill put it up, or i might just start a new..
