for being the title of the picture there is too little visible of the vampires in the picture-they're crammed at the edge of the pic and there seems to be more emphasis on the background, which isn't too worked out either...is it a cave or just blood?
the guy's body far to the right is abit too short.
you should make the signature less green, the eye gets drawn to it immediately, and i doubt you want it to dominate the pic;)
the hand of the guy far to the left seems also a tad too big,but not too much.
put some more greens onto the guys to create more interesting colour plays and contrasts between back and foreground.
generally the background is dominating the picture, which probably shouldn't be.
keep it up.

The main thing I see is that the background feels a bit empty, like something more should be there. The swirls and smoke don't feel like enough.

Awesome work dude. Definitely one of my favorite color peices from you. I disagree with the comments about the red space being empty. I love the texture work in there, and am totally intrigued by how much it dominates the peice. The metal on the space vamps is kick ass as well.
My only crit.....I can't place the movie. What movie is this from B? Huh? What movie?

Hey thanks for the compliments and the critiques. I will take everyone's advice into account for future pieces. As far as the background goes, I know that it's pretty abstract and non specific, but that was my intention. Some like it some don't, I can see both sides for sure. At least people are talking about it! :teeth: I was trying to do more what Cotz and Sinc were talking about with the background. I wanted it to be very bold and have strong contrast. I'm fairly new with digital painting and am still trying to get the hang of it.
thanks again all...

Aside from the fact that it is a very nice piece, here's some comments:
Seems like the blade the guy on the right is holding is too small for the rather big hilt. A hilt that size would be suitable for a two-handed or a bastard sword, not for a relatively short sword like this. Or perhaps you just like it to be oversized, and I'm nitpicking.
The arm of the middle guy seems to be wrong somehow.. I think you made the biceps (if that's the upper arm muscle and im not mistaken) too big.
The right guy's body is indeed too small
Hand of the leftmost Vampire is not too big, becouse i think you intended it to be some sort of robotic claw and in that case it's ok in it's oversized state.
Furthermore, I dont like the face of the rightmost guy but that's a personal opinon. love the claws and expressions on the two left ones though.

to be frank.. I think they look more like LOTR Mordor orcs, than vampires.
But aside from that, its really very nice, I also like the dominating background. It kinda shows what dominates them as well... Blood ofcourse, and the hunt for it.

hmm.. I think they look more like pale orcs than vampires. Good on the detail, though it might be nice to see some cleaner lines.

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments coming in. Thanks for the kind words and the advice as well.
Twisted Nail- I agree with what you said totally about the proportions of the arm of the middle guy and the guy on the right being too small. I didn't really give the blade and the hilt much thought with regards to their relationship to each other, but you're right about that as well.
Lordofhjoerring- Lots of people seem to agree that these "vampires" feel more like Orcs. I originally planned for them to be vampires but I'm sure that my love of the LOTR films totally influenced me while I was painting this piece!! Thanks for the compliments on the piece too. I'm glad that you like the background.
Little Mogwai- Again, I agree that they look more like Orcs. If I ever do vampires again, I'll have to keep this in mind.
Manslauter- thanks a lot, I'm happy that you liked it!! I would really like to do another piece with more guns and stuff, like you mentioned. hmmm..... maybe I'll do that pretty soon.
thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the crits and love the compliments!:bashful:

It reminds me of a comic.. I think its name was "Requiem".
I love the tribal tatoo on the first vampire. Only, the look a bit flat. Maybe because the red background dominates so much.
Still, a cool picture!
