i had a question, ok im quite new to really actually trying to draw, and i was wondering hows the best way (using colored pencils) to fade colors together. for instance say your writing an I, i want the top part to be red, then about mid way i want to fade to yellow, smoothly that is, what is the best way to do this?
any help is mucho appreciated
(your guys art is amazing, i feel so inadequete to you guys :()

there are lots of different ways to do fading etc. my favourite on is using 'flicks'...heh heh.. here are some examples :^^;:

if you try doing that closer together you should end up with this

this also works with colour

you can do this by doing red flicks down, then yellow flicks up and over lap the bottom of the red. did i make ANY sense there? :blahblah:
or you can leave a space between the two, and youl endup with waht looks like hairhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/bezz/hairpractise.jpg
it can be quite tricky to keep the flicks parallel, because you have to do it quickly, so that it does blend properly :^^:
another way, which i dont find as effective but it is easier to do is 'layering'

Lo there fivemagics77, Im no pro or expert, but Id thought Id share my two cents on the matter on how I shade in general, coloured pencil or whatever.
