wow - these are tightly rendered indeed. there's some beautiful armour in there, not to mention a couple of rather tasty chicks to boot. great textures all over the place. i wish i could muster the patience to get textures like these. i'll keep my eye out for more posts from you.

keep it up

ha - i have your sketches since the characters were on a white background. So glad to see you've worked more on them.
Wecome aboard - you have a great team there - i remember paying a visit to your E3 crew few years ago and... not manny of you were sober. :D :chug: Keep that drinking low boys. You're doing a great job.

Great man! All the images have a combining element of dark mood. I agree with the above posts...the textures are awesome. I especially like the ring-mail (or is it scale-mail)! It must have taken you ages to render them.

Congrats...and keep it comin'!

Wow, love your style...
Hate to be this way but I'm kind of sick of seeing all the females in games half naked...
maybe its me but I think all then men have a better chance of survival when the only armor on the lower body of the women is a pair of highly uncomfortable metal panties...

And I'm a male.

Great job 'duck. These are awesome. I thought they were 3D models at first. very tight work.

Coma> I have to disagree with you. I think of this subject from a different viewpoint. I think of the women as more fearless than the men because they don't wear armor. quicker, dangerous, and distracting. :)

Wow. beautiful paintings! wow. did I say wow?

Anyway, as far as the issue of scantily armored women go, It has been statistically proven that in medieval sword combat, rarely, if ever did sword blows land on the abdomen, upper thigh, head, or forearms. The breasts, crotch, lower legs, and shoulders, however, were primary targets, thus the need for armor. The men wearing armor all over are clearly wearing it in the spirit of fashion, nothing more. ha ha.

i think i've said the f word like 20 times after looking at these..
they make me very happy to see them and very depressed about where i am at as an artist, but please don't hold back from posting more.

I'd like to see work in progress or anything else you could supply from these.

Hey, hotduck. I remember seeing this game at e3 last year, and one of the characters. But when I went back and dug up my photos from the show, the picture has changed a bit.

http://waylon-art.com/forums/IMG_2607.JPG

Was that just an earlier version that they used at the show?

Really impressive works. I especially like the way you rendered the mail (or maille - not ringmail or chainmail @ AndreasRocha ;)) in your third picture - this really looks like real one. As I´m especially interested in historical illustration it would be great if you could show us or give us some hints how you achieved this structures.
The only - really small - crit I have is that the mail bulges in the pictures like cloth. This looks somehow like the cheap mail-substitute (blackened knitted wool) Hollywood uses often because the real stuff seems to be too expensive.

Otherwise really good pictures - I wish I could draw like that.

I'd love to see some closeups of these!! Especially of the Chain mail on the first character. I always have such a hard time trying to illustrate chain mail, without drawing the individual links!!!! These pics are beautiful! Great work, indeed!!

yeah these are truly awesome hotduckie! instead of flooding you w/ohh's and ahhhh's (ha ha jason) there is something that caught my eye on the woman wearing the armor(2nd or 3rd pic). in some parts (her right chest peice and here right thigh peice) the armor seems to be "skinned" on her. you can't tell if the armor is fitting snug against her skin or if there is a gap between them. maybe a really small shadow or bouncing some light from the armor onto these parts will give us more of a sense of depth. or just a simple dark line around the armor could signal a snug fit on the skin.

just my two cents. you're way beyond my skill level so....take it with a grain of salt. ha ha.

PS: still waiting for that tutorial you were talking about:p

once again, AWESOME.

Hey Hotduck,

Just wanted to let you know that my friends and I also saw your game at E3 last year. We actually picked up some postcard give-aways at your booth. Looks like a really fun game. Something we'll definetly pick up. When is your release date? Anyway, good to see you on the site and thanks for posting your superb work.

best,

-James
