Ok to mimic exactealy what the old painter six watercolor tool does follow my simple instructions.

create a new layer over the canvas.

set the layers blending properties to gel or multiply

paint on that canvas layer with the tinting tool, basic round works good.

and there you have it it works exactealy like the water color tool ,only better cuz you can pick colors with the color picker without drying the canvas, instead of "drying the canvas, just drop the layer.

now start experimenting with the real water color brush in painter & because it the coolest 2-d digital imaging tool I have ever seen.

:D
good luck

Sorry I'm still learning painter, where is the 'tinting' tool, I can't find it.

Thanks Android for your help. I'm so glad painter 7 can still mimic 6's watercolour.

Android: Yay! Thanks for the tip... I used the tinting brushes for a small painting once, then forgot about them... Thanks for refreshing my memory! :)

Switch: You have to install the patch for Painter7 to get the tinting brushes, as they are part of the upgrade.
WARNING: You have to reinstall Painter7 and then apply the patch before opening the program, at least that's what the readme states... I don't know if you actually need to do this?
If you do, be sure to back up custom brushes and other stuff you'd rather not loose...
