Goran, only an hour? Wow, great works like that in such short amounts of time inspire me :). I might give this one a shot.

here's my quick sketch. About an hour in Painter. Could have played for much, much longer with this one. I've loved Smaug since I was a child.

Narya - LOVE the way it looks like there's an inferno in the dragon's mouth. Great stuff!
Goran - that's just magnificent. Feels very Tolkien.
Hamsta - a great foundation! really good.

I'm pretty ok with this peice because a. I suck at drawing creatures, dragons, etc. b. this is the first time i've used the watercolor feature on my painter8 program and it was just too fun. I could use advice,so crit away.

I forgot to write my crits!
Swan: Great mouth and i love that it's very much an "action shot".
Narya: WOW on the eye and mouth! You got that glow down perfectly.
Goran: Seriously a beautiful sketch. Looks like an illustration that could go in a book...
Hamsta: I agree it's your best one yet. I don't know if it was intended, but the glass-like look of the body is cool.
Osmus: I like the shape of your horns! but when I first looked, I was confused. I think the lines being all the same size make the image a bit confusing. Try varying width of lines to show features. Just a suggestion.

Sir Smauge of Lonelymountainchestershire dislikes worker unions and hobos but adores idleness caused by extraordinary wealth stop

smaug, 2 times. both with ballpoint pen since i was installing winXP at a friends today. for it was as problematic as it always is, i had lots of time! ;)
first, i thought: ah, cool, everithings alright. i'll do just a quick closeup! there u go...
http://www.damagecorp.de/jon/pics/smaug2.jpg
but then i really had enought time for details and even a bodyshot! :)
http://www.damagecorp.de/jon/pics/smaug1.jpg
then i recolored the lines in ps, since it is a red dragon, right? :)

I can't miss my chance to draw a dragon. Too late at night to color this. Here's a smug looking Smaug.

Also too late at night to comment on each work but they're all really good. There was a nice turn out for this topic.
