As strongly as most people feel about their views they should put all that energy into doing something about it...is there an echo in here? i strongly agree. ppl with views from anywhere along the spectrum should educate themselves as much as possible and then help their candidates campaign by taking action (LEGAL action mind you). obviously this does not exclude talking because no one really wants a mime helping their campaign. yes, talking in a forum such as this gives the advantage of contacting ppl from farther away, but will do little to change things usually. set up a booth in the mall (a sturdy one cuz there are some nutjobs out there who dont agree with you but arent equiped to let you know verbally) and hand out information on the candidates and issues to those that want it (only). go to city hall meetings and give a speech. donate to campaigns or better yet volunteer to help them (they have plenty of money already). all of these things will go much farther than just voting by itself. however, i must advise that to effectively take action you do need a good bit of knowledge about the candidates and issues. the "activists" from both sides that i met that didnt even know the name of the vp candidates werent convincing many ppl.
the thing im sorry to the world about is the fact that they have to hear so much news about the us and dont really have many tools to change what they are hearing. why should that guy from denmark have to hear what the us is doing for 3/4 of his countrys news broadcast? because were a superpower? that doesnt mean he or many others from other countries similar want to hear about it everyday. basically, im sorry to the world that america in general is so very ethnocentric. i like living here but that doesnt mean that everyone else in the world has to hear about us that much.
