This is me attempting a dark theme. :P It might actually be finished, but I'm putting it here in case I have a "BLECH!" reaction in a few days and want to adjust something (took me about 4 hours).

While there has been a discussion recently whether there can be light without dark in the metephorical sense, it is the contrast between the two that really brings them both out in art. What I'm trying to say is that in order to really make this dark piece feel much darker, you should introduce brighter light; not necessarily more, as a little dab'll do ya. Currently it's a bit of a dim, muddy mix. Light can touch the forms and suggest the shapes without having to go into a time consuming rendering.

Also, I'm really not sure what's going on. It looks like a skeleton is trying to kiss the top of her head and she is caressing the skull (eww), but its arm position looks threatening and there are a lot of other confusing elements swirling around.

And I hate to say this (as I sound like a broken record), but there are some anatomy issues. The arms are a bit wonky and her eyes are out of place.

This is a pretty cool composition, however, and there is quite a bit of tension in the piece. I'd like to see you expand on this theme and rework it (you've got to tell me the relationship between these two, though).

I think there was a bit of a problem of working on this in a room with the lights out...it looks a lot darker/muddier this morning in a normally-lit room than it did when I worked on it. :P Think I'll tweak contrast/brightness so that it matches in daylight what it looked like in a dark room. Also should maybe add more lighting to her skin...hmmm.

I think I see the problem with the eye now, and how to fix it...also see the problem with the arms, but not quite sure yet how to fix it. Hopefully it'll come to me later. :)

As for the relationship, he is her minion/servant, but whom she relies upon to the point of almost being subservient herself.

Thanks for the post dogfood. :)
