i like to complicate things and challenge myself artistically. these were all made on the BART train, the public transit system in the bay area, as i used to ride it every day. these were all drawn with a kaimei sable brush pen. have you ever tried to draw with a BRUSH on a moving train? but brush is good to work on shapes and compositional elements quickly. also, you dont have to change pens to vary lineweight. its a process that i found similar to the blocking in of paintings, so its good practice.

this is a beautiful page el coro. just beautiful. i live in chicago and take the train almost everyday. i used to sketck on the train and need to get back in the habit (instead of finger-tapping while listening to music...i play the drums).

i have never heard of that kind of a pen. can you elaborate a bit? hard to find? expensive? once again-BEAUTIFUL.

yah

so um... these rock. a few in particular are really beautiful... it certainly takes some skill to pull these off with a brush pen.

Argh, I was looking forward to a peek in your sketchbooks, but all I see now is that darn Fortunecity logo...

el coro - that's more to my expectations ;)

I usually commute by car (self-driver...) but after seeing this I am considering to use public transport again (just kidding, that's even less fun than idling your spare time away in a traffic jam)
