Hey Scotty...lookin good man I'm glad to see you haven't lost any steam at all. Keep it up you are improving rapidly.

Couple crits for this one.

I think the anatomy is off a bit. I will point out some specifics only for the purpose of helping you out. The shoulder muscles look a little too far forward. They don't seem quite right. Also the back muscles don't seem to be big enough to support the front of the frame. If you notice on the hulk trailer his back muscles are huge! That's because he would need those huge back muscles to support the front of his frame. Those muscle groups rely on each other for stability and support (at least that's what I've always been told hehe). Also his hands, particularly the thumbs, look too rounded. The thumbs almost look as if they are another one of the fingers some distinction in there would help out. Also the mouth is a little strange...I love the roaring pose but I think his lips would be a little fuller. Seems like the lips are too small. The lower part of his torso looks a bit off as well...his ribcage changes direction immediately after the pectorals when it shouldn't. Also the rippling of the muscles all over his body is really important. At this point they are sculpted as if they are one solid mass but on the hulk there would be layer upon layer of muscles creating ripples everywhere. Sweet job on the hair. Love the pose. Great work man. Sorry for all the crits I just hope these are helpful (I may be wrong someone help me out if I am). The human body alone is probably an awfully hard thing to try to sculpt...the hulk with a super human body has to be 10 x as hard to sculpt. Excellent job.

gawd! it's like i'm looking into a mirror! :D
looks great, my favorite hulk pictures are the ones where he has that bulging forhead. like a gorrilla. but this is more realistic. i guess you'll have to color it for it to be really hulkish.

Hehehe thanks man. Yes...HAAAARD, but rewarding. I see a couple of the things you pointed out, but some things look the way they do because of bad photography on my part. I look at it right in front of me, and some of the details, and the lips specifically are fine. I tried bigger lips b4, and he looked like Bubba from Forrest Gump LOL. Anyhow, thanks for helping me to see some flaws, I think I can add more sculpey to baked sculpey. So I will fix the thumb thing, and maybe add some to the shoulders. His torso/back are crazy thick man....so I think it's the angle I took the photos at. (From the side he is proportioned equally.)

Thanks again.....I appreciate it muchly!!:chug:

Jrr- LOL....wow you must be huge.;) Thanks, and I may paint him...we will see.

Thanks Davi....neck needs more meat I guess huh? I can still add to the baked figure, so that's what I'll do. Thanks for the help.:chug:

My HULK........this is it.....I've made some changes without compromising my original vision. Like it or not...here he is.:)

I grew up watching the original series with Lou Ferigno, and I also love the comic version, AND the movie version is looking fantastic. So this has been a labour of love for me....I'm glad you guys like it too.

Thanks to everyone for their time, opinions, and encouragement. Now.......onto something new!!:)

youre guessing at your anatomy

the lattisimus dorsi attatches on the sacrum (tailbone)...even exaggerated anatomy will have proper origins and insertions. the lat also attatches up on the humerous about one third the way down. it is an arm muscle.

right now you have his lats connecting to his lumbar area...not his tailbone. It needs to connect to the tailbone.

work on your anatomy people!!!....you cant make great art if you dont know it.

the brachio-radialis is off as well...the area of the forearm extensors and how that area also is attatched on the humerous. get a good anatomy book.

you are guessing.

good luck

jason

ps...leave it to ponte to go find stuff going on in the old forums...well done ponte

since you just talk about it, jason
what would you consider a good anatomy book?

something about medical anatomy or more the artist anatomy style thing?
is it more important to get a (simplified) grasp on structure or is it the more in-depth the better?

any names or titles to look out for?

i am currently using an anatomy book by gottfried bammes.

sorry for hijacking yout thread, scotty!
i like your hulk. the only thiung that bothers me a bit is the lot of soft edges he has. the fingers for example are very round and not really looking agressive or especially forceful.
some harder edges or harsh skinfolds could give him the special bit.

Jeez this is comin outta the past on me. Dammit, I have looked at this bust for quite a while since I finished it, and I've never been FULLY satisfied with the result. You have just pointed out the flaws that I couldn't figure out. THANK YOU......I will never forget these points from now on. (Sux to be used as an example of what not to do, but hey, it's your forum) Fortunately I can add clay to those areas, and it'll be correct. Right? Please tell me it'll be right FINALLY. (GAWD)

I'm gonna make it at this.......I'll just keep going.

Thanks for the input....(and for pointing out what ISN'T right)....considering I haven't had any training so far, I think I'm doin alright. ;) (I THINK anyhow.) I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THE REST OF MY CRAP....How about you check out my site, and let me know.

Now back to learning, and learning, and learning....etc.

damn, Scotty~ we can all tell that your improving quickly~ you have even started to use a background color, ha ha... when i photograph, i usually put a towel in the background, usually a black one~. well, aside from the comments everyone else has given you, the fingers bother me~ if you look at your own hand, bent from rage and anger, your fingers would not be rounded~ your joints pop out and angles are formed everywhere! only a little baby would have soft rounded hands and fingers~ great job scotty, every sculpture you become better and better.~ the first time i saw this sculpture, i thought it was good, but i didnt even realize it was you "scotty" then i looked back at it a few days later, then i was blown away, realizing its the same guy who made the aliens...~ :chug: one more thing, pick up a few body building magazines, great refernce material!

I'm trying to think of a way to fix the fingers on Hulk...since it's been baked. Any ideas?

hey scotty... lemme see if i can help...
for the fingers,... imagine a ball..., and add clay to the ball to make it a box.... take that same idea, and use it on your fingers... add clay onto the curves, to make em angles~ my only suggestion... i'm working on a sculpture of a girl, with army pants, and a armored claw arm, wearing a corsette... not far along enough yet that i can post here... maybe i'll post it in the 'sketches' section, and keep it as a running thread~ keep up the good work!:D :dead3:

I will look forward to seeing this new work of yours. I just finished up a new bust, and a couple of other smaller things. I will post them when I get the chance.
