i love it!
it reminds me of a bunch of different things but i can't put my hand on it.

It reminds me of a song too, but i can't hear it either.

this one is really different. very cool.

it looks like you took a picture of your wall and used it for the paper texture. is that what you did? if so,,, neat idea.

are those new watercolor brushes slower than dick or what?
i want the old painter 6 watercolor brushes back.
i cant use the new ones with my machine. they sure look cool though. i like the fact that you can blow the paint around. thats neat.

There's a quality of light here, like you filmed it on a video camera. This piece also has movement. I feel like I'm actually looking at you.

thanks guys, I was happy with this one as well. Sometimes I feel like I a becoming too comfortable drawing myself and the portraits become automatic. I tried to use a diferent approach with this one, the paper texture is actualy taken from a picture of frosting on a cake, I need to start pushing myself in new directions, if anyone has any ideas I am open to portrait sugestions.

I don't know if this would be interesting to you or not but perhaps you could paint yourself as a woman, black man, etc... in your portraits. Painting yourself as you think you might look given a different set of circumstances in your life or whatever.

What about different facial expressions? say one of you with your mouth wide open but with the teeth of a lion, or different animal. That'd be pretty cool!

what about making a portrait not using drawing skills at all. maybe go outside and grab some stick and stones and dirt and such and put them together to create your face. that would be pretty cool. maybe even creating your face with household appliance, stationary stuff... i dunno what i am saying anymore....

as few pixels as posible - 16x16, 32x32... color or just at 1 bit per pixel. This will push you to new techiques.
Trust me, after doing mobile phone games i've come to value the pixel (and loose my marbles).
You seem to respect a bunch of pixels together... try the value of one. It will get to your neves :D

2 - use funy mirrors - spherical or so.
3 - try more cartoony SP. Manga, whatever.
4 - full body
5 - use hands, hats, and accesoruies.

i can go on... but this is not the point.
I wouldn't want to see any of thse just for thesake of it.
Do any of the above to inspire you and put a bit of yourself there - it you we value in each SP.

i think that you should go out at night and vandalize a piece of public property with one of your self portraits.
maby get one of those magnum markers and hit up a street sign or a bench. take a picture and then run like a bitch.

could be a bit incriminating though,, being that it is your face and all.

fuck it.. its punk rock right?? :D

Have you tried painting a self-portrait on a railroad car (like that guy who was just at Lombardy Gallery)? It would be cool if your SP's started traveling around the country!

portrait suggestions...hmmmm....how bout one with your eyes closed completely the whole time....try to sense the contours of your skull using the internal muscle pressure....and weight of masses around each area...but that's just crazy///.
