Start by blocking in all the basic shapes, if you see shapes rather then a face, then, it will help with the proportions alot, if you want it to look really realistic with a pencil, make sure you have all your tonal values down, and blend them nicely.

And maybe not go sooo fast. But also not to slow. If this is your first, i suggest going slower, then working your way up. By going slower, sometimes you see more, and the final piece will be much more promising.

just a few things i noticed

your lines should flow, instead of jadged lines, and the hair shouldnt be scibbled in, you should render the high lights

Study the angles more. When something is tilted your eye tends to straighten things out, you'll probably find yourself tilting your head to see things level. Try rendering more of the face to get a better understanding of it. Right now it looks like a preliminary sketch.

try to make better line widths and make it more fluid. try to plan our your sketch before you start. Try to study more anatomy and try not to make every line the same tone, make the lighter areas with less lines and make the dark areas with a thick dark lines, that way, you can get better line work. Also, try to work on more realistic pictures before you start adding random lines in her face.
