Yeah Harley's are ok, but why still run a 50 year old engine design? V-rod excluded.

You need more Ducati Monsters, MV Agusta Brutale's and Aprilia's over there.
Streetfighter style bikes! 8)

thats the first thing that popped to my mind too.

The EZ Lube girls were great.:rendered: I've got a couple hundred more photos of the stunts and bikes. There were more than just Harleys. Alright, these are two professional stuntmen that were there. The father is on the right, son is on the left. Can you guess what major star the father doubled for and the celebrity the son doubled for?

We are on the same frequency, though I share special relationship to the monster, my father designed the thing as well as the Raptor and V-Raptor.
Its a pity Cagiva doesn't bring any V-Raptors here in the US.

The raptor is nice but the Xtra Raptor is much better.

So this is Signor Galuzzi's son or daughter.

I'd agree the V-raptor is alot better, shame the 'cowl' sort of blocked your arms, then again most Italian bikes have poor turning circles. Is that your dad's fault or because of engineering :bashful:

Yes im a motorbike nut/nerd :dad:

Anyway parts for Cagiva are ridiculous, the engine is apparently ok to get parts for(Suzuki TL lump) but the rest is absurd. I know someone who bought the 650 and it took ages to get parts, think theyve been bought out by the Proton group now.

I'm guessing youve seen the Ducati 'classic' series then? Only seen them in pictures but they look great, also check out a company called 'Mecatwin', theyre a French company that modify Triumphs and Harley's. The 'Thunder Bird Sport MTT' is fantastic.

You must get Monsters in the US though, just get the S4R and go mad :D

P.S. Sorry, I'm a bit obsessed by bikes, its a problem, but I dont really want a cure >:D

Son, actually, and double "L" ;)

Yeah Cagiva has been going through a lot of economic woe, this merger with Proton supposedly will help.

Problem is with the monsters is that the new ones suck, I am looking for a 91-92 which is the M900 with the first generation engine and with the original styling my father intended.
Its hard though.

My apologies on the spelling.

Problem with the early designs are engines, air-cooled do look better (Buell etc) but theyre not as good as the newer Ducati air-cooled ones, or indeed water cooled 916/996 engines.

Most of those old ones will be knackered now though, and can you live with the reliability? If theyre nice theyll have loads of CF mudguards etc on them, or have been stunted. If you can find a nice one though good luck :) . But you have to put Termi's on it :confident

I'll stick to Jap bikes for now, more reliable.

Or look at the new Triumph speed triple. Bit of a Monster/Raptor rip-off, but 128bhp three cylinder engine and the styling is pretty nice!

Yeah but japs get old in one year or so.
Well the new monster engine, estetically, is very ugly, the displacement is horrible and on one model I think they switched the exhaust.
The other choice would be the immortal 996, but thats 20k $ of bike, well spent but way out my range.

Yeah the speed triple is nice, but still the fuel tank styling and the frame could use some work.

The unreacheable(right now) dream would be a Vincent Black Shadow, thats a bike!

Never rode any Ducati properly (quick go in a car park on Monster) but im sure you know about the 748 being the better bike for most people. Same looks, but less likely to get you banned as quickly. theyre also going cheap now.
You can pick up good 916's over here with proper service history's for £5k (im in the UK), so probably about $8k US. 748's are down to few year old Jap 600 money.
I know what you mean about the engines not looking as good, id prefer the reliability though.

Anyway cant your Dad just blag an MV Brutale :confident ?

Vincent Black Shadow! :O Better start saving lots and lots and lots of pennies.

Jap bikes are cheaper and I dont see point in buying a Monster 620, id rather have a litre bike, or if there is a god im getting a VFR-400. mmmmmm V-four burble <3

The MV agusta side of the company is run by Tamborini, my father is responsible for Husquarna and Cagiva, stylistically at least.

Well I hope Proton's money let your father and Mr Tamburini(I thought it was spelt with a 'u') built more beautiful bikes (and fast ones too). Seem's so as as there's that new Husky Supermoto out which looks quite nice, not as good as an SM570R, but still nice.

I did have my eyes set on an Aprilia RSV-450, looks like that's gone out the window though unless Piaggio keep it going, which will be great if they do. 8)

Hopefully one day I can work for one of the two greats mentioned, or Pierre Terbelanche :teeth:

Pierre Terblanche is a dick, don't even bother, he screwed my father over and over, thats why he hates the guts of him.

Aprilia is clinically dead, unless some miracle happens.

I still like Mr Terbelanche's bikes, the 999/749 aint great though :\

I always wondered why the Monster was designed by the same guy twice :bashful:

The miracle was Piaggio. They completely bought them out. Though no doubt Piaggio will go bust in 3 years time, dragging Aprilia, Moto-Guzzi and numerous others down with them.

Nice to know someone else likes bikes anyway, better than all these boring cagers

Terblanche's aestetics are doubtful, his multistrada was an eyesore and the 999 doesn't sell, trying to compete with the 996's simple design, what a fool.

MV agusta is on that road if Proton screws it.
The industry will have a major collapse soon.

acuna_read
October 16th, 2004, 03:33 PM
I'd agree about Terbelanche's recent designs and although the Multistrada isnt great it's ok, it's practical uses seem to help it sell well in Europe, in the UK it aint doing so well.

I dont see the Industry having a major collapse soon, but perhaps a slow down due to more government constraints. BOOOOOo >:|
With Japan making bikes that are topping 180mph for family hatchback money the governments will step in.

And with Ducati building a V4 Desmosedici GP derived bike (200bhp, 0-60 in 2 seconds etc <3 ) they will get harsher, even if it does cost something ridiculous like £30k.

Bikes like the Monster etc are really coming into their own as cruising at 100mph which is very easy on most sports bikes just doesnt sit comfortably with the nazi speed police (in the UK at least).

So no complet collapse (apart from Italy which goes up and down like a yo-yo) but perhaps a deecline, and then an inclien in the MT-01 etc (why didnt they keep the concept bikes styling? the fools!
