This is a little study I did of one of William Whitaker's paintings, The Apprentice. For me, watching him work was the best part of the Austin workshop. It was also a kick to see him doodle on the 'ol Cintiq. Did anybody get that on tape? (I posted the drawings a while back.)

It is not quite finished; I still need to work on patience and discipline. I did it in Painter IX. I'm too messy to work in actual oils.

Hey man, pretty cool. I'm working on a bargue drawing right now, so it's good to see some of this stuff happening. Just a trick that may help you in future when you're setting out the shapes - flick your eyes quickly back and forth between the two paintings, and you'll see most of the errors. Of course, you'll eventually need to do something dramatic, like mirror or flip it to see anything new, but that should help you catch most of the major ones.

Keep at it, man!

the skin tone is off, you need more red and more saturation in your colors i think.
