I'm a fan of your works and i found this forum simply great.
I come from 3D world but i'd really like to learn some of your 2D techniques, to paint my architectural sketches and more...
So i have some question for you:

1. from where I should begin? where i can found helpful tutorials and guide to learn the basics of 2D digital paintings?
(i really like "abstract" techniques... for photorealism i can use 3DsMax :^^: )

2. Should I use Corel Painter? Photoshop isn't a good ones?

3. Should I use a tablet?

Welcome aboard :)

First off, a Tablet is a must. There are a sparse few who get along with just a mouse but that extra trouble is just not worth it. This is one line between traditional and digital methods that should be blurred as much as possible. It's just a matter of working more naturally as opposed to being restricted to what's available to you. The goal when working digitally is to make the computer fulfill as many of your requirements as possible. Not the other way around.

As for software, that's a tough question to answer. There are dead set fans for Painter and Photoshop and still many who even use both. I suggest, if it's at all possible, to try your hand at both before making a financial commitment to one or both. Find out which one works best for you. One is geared towards efficiently editing all aspects of an image where as the other is a highly specialized painting program. Both can do what the other does to a limited extent so it really depends on what your personal expectations and priorities are.
