Wow, great work. Love your ideas and your style.
Your figure studies are really strong and show an excellent grasp for structure.

I would love to see you rubberize and stretch your figures more.

Also, lets see some of the characters in an environment (I'm one to talk, hehe), but it would be cool to see....

I will keep checkin up on your thread.

You mentioned earlier in this thread how the more you draw the more it scares you how messed up your head is. I notice that in some of my stuff too. I'm often reluctant to draw things because of it. But it's more what I'm afraid other people might think! LoL I wanna show my mom my sketchbook but I'm afraid she'll commit me! If girl already things I'm freakin' nuts! lol We are just warped people livin' in a cracked out fantasy world. But we love it, don't we? :confident

The life drawings are lookin' really strong. Keep at those. I like how you're still workin' on figure stuff and distortin' it and such. Don't be afraid to push those values though. You can get darker! Keep it up, you're sketchbook is lookin' mighty nice!

Practice a bit the hands! I guess for the fat ugly woman drawing where you didn´t finished her and and you decided to cut it. ;)
Becareful with the proportions in some sketches, above all be careful the length of the characters in relation with his arms.

Keep it

heres a not-really-so-concluding conclusion to the hands workshop i took this week
i wanted it to be about passions in life, and love and sacrifies
things that have been on my mind recently
but it just looked too gay.. so final thing is quite pointless

Yup, nice sketchbook... I saw you go to school (art school i presume), so could i ask for how much time do you draw ?

Very nice stuff, i especially liked your hand work, the first one with the head in the middle is gorgeous, love the way you shade (btw, any insight on how you do that ? :p )

So, i hope see you soon,
bye !

Ryu: honestly, I have no idea. I just enjoy making lines?

Here's sometihng a little different now.
The ""environment"" sketch from a few updates ago, now being worked as a WIP scene painting for a school project.
This is the Goodly state, where the birds chirp, the water stream, the romansque is in the air.
Dont worry though, I am not french, it will all rott and die at the end, just need to paint some other shit first...

A little thing, I think it ended up looking like a lot a Manley style, hmm.. I should watch out for that. Since it's pretty much my first ""painting"", I can let it go for now.
Color theory critiques will be great appreciated, don't hold them in if you've got them please.

Was supposed to be a Noble, Love-craft novles creature. I dunno this lovercraft, so its just a creature who likes sugar and to spoil himself with sweets and fancy clothes. Or something like that :?

I love your pencil work shotgun, and I really enjoyed looking at your latest bunch. One critique I have though, is of your design choices. Almost all the interest of these pieces comes from the sheer oddity or weirdness. I'd really like to see you try to make a piece that doesn't rely so much on being "odd" and just focused on aesthetic appeal. I don't mean a tit queen or a brad pitt drawing, but something that someone would be able to call beautiful, something that wouldn't wierd out a 40 year old woman who wasn't an artist, if that makes any sense.

These are nice, I just don't know what you are trying to develope with them, other than rendering style and freeing your design choices.

Eyal
April 11th, 2005, 04:22 AM
Oh, I don't understand why you are looking for anything behind my sketchbook pages. there are very few "lets design something" drawings here. Those drawings are part of a journey to my inside.

My drawings serve no purpos except as lines I expressed on the paper.

Beyond that, I am focusing on anatomy, rendering, proportions, prespective, ability of visualation, and...character. There are probably more, but you got the point.

I am not selling these to anyone (although as Miracola replied recently - some find it appealing), these are my own thoughts and emotions that I share here. Sometimes, they follow a more "commercial design" path. Mostly,...
it's like a well you are digging into, deeper and deeper into the earth. At one point the water (or brainmatter, whatever) will burst out and many many water will spray above your head. All you can do is to catch as many as you can...
I'm not even trying to put them together right now, just collect them. But I keep them meanwhile, and sometimes, I will put them together as a design. That process is also a skill I have to develop, no doubt.

Thanks for the comment.

Scanned some more.
I'm trying to focus a little bit and have more "content" behind these. Slowly, it will build.. I hope?
Abu Loogoo, btw,is still being revised and rendered to death.

Study simple shapes. You're understanding of value doesn't come through in your concept pieces. That's one huge difference between your life drawings and your concept.

Stumbled onto this from the Workshop thread, and...Whoa! Another casual virtuoso with a demented imagination. I'd really like to see more color stuff. About the only critique I could think of is that I'm left wanting a more 'finished' feel.
