Hello all,
Off and on for the past week i have been working on the following image, pretty much inspired by the warg riders in the Two Towers. I am fairly happy with how it is turning out but am losing steam quick, so I'd like to hear what yall think i could do to improve it.

This is my fisrt post here on these boards so please let me know if there are any problems.
Thanks :D

I think all in all this is looking fairly nice.. although I am having some trouble with the mount especially. The main areas of concern for me would be the rear legs, the eye and the mouth. For the legs I would recommend looking at photographs of animals running (especially wolves.. considering what this is based on. I know it is not supposed to be a wolf but .. or maybe some renderings of dinosaurs or something) to see how they actually move. Study the shapes and the relationship those shapes have to one another. The eye.. I don't know, I just would like to see something other than an X..and maybe move up from the top of the mouth. And the mouth... I would probably be inclined to open it up a bit and let the animal breathe. Needs air, especially when running.
This is a good start :D
.. but I think that is what I would do.

he's right about the eyes, the eyes give any piece character and life, they are extremely important, if you can pull strong emotion in your eyes you will have a strong piece, also give him a harness or something to hold on to, straps of leather or fur, looks like hes not gonna make his jump, but i must say that you really do have a good start.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I agree about the beast looking a bit unrealistic. When it started out as a sketch I had the idea that it would look 'stylized' so to speak, and after working on it for awhile I didnt even notice the odd parts.
I might call it finished unless anyone thinks this version is worse...
