PS sketch of crusification

I find it really hard to blend colors in photoshop. The process seems to be never ending as I work with low opacity, and nothing seems to be ever done...

can someone please point me to direction where I could get a better grasp on painting with PS?

It looks more like he's lifting his arms than hanging from them. The bend in the body, though interesting, also removes some of the feeling of hanging.

I'm sorry I can't help with PS (a Painter man, myself), but it's looking good, so far.
