Hi Andrew,

You have to be a little more specific in your question. There are many factors that can increase performance. What kind of processes are slow for instance?
It could be Windows related, partition, brushes or caches etc.

First thing I'd do is to check how much memory you have allocated for Photoshop, make sure you run it on a big partition 10GB+ with no other programs accessing it. Set your image cache to 4 or higher, decrease the number of history states and use fewer options turned on in the brushes settings, such as dual brush and smoothing etc. That can improve speed alot.

On a side note, I find Photoshop CS much faster than 7.

hi,

here're what my settings look like:

i only have 1 partition, a C: drive of 189 GB. examples of slow processes are openning some files, using the paint bucket when it's about to spill out of the desired area and into a bigger one, and, as always, saving. i decreased the history states now.

yea, maybe i should get CS.

o, another thing is, is there a way to get an Undo button out there on the work area like any of the other windows? like 3dmax has, for example. i dislike having my right hand fingers on Ctrl and Z as I attempt to paint-bucket areas with the highest possible tolerance without spilling out. i'd have the undo button at like 100 x 100 px if i could :teeth:
