I'd say that the figure looks good, but the darks tend to muddy together, despite the fact that it's an apparent out door setting. Furthermore, about the fact that it's an outdoor setting, the horizon line is far too high. And looks a bit cartoony for the otherwise realistic portrait.

I'd say that if you rendered in a flat background, with a harsh shadow cast by the figure, I think it would make this look really finished.

the rendering of the check and eye is fantastic but the other places where the white shows through kills it for me.(ie: the hat, his right hand) his rightside of his face doesn't seem to be properly shaded either, not sure if that is because of the technique you used or of improper use of light.

The bone structure of the had seems a bit wonky
specialy the index finger the curve of it seems
a bit unatural, but overall is pretty good job :D
I hope you did well on your revision
the painting is pretty nice.
