very nice work, i like your looseness... i like your sketches on the toned paper and the ones of the cat best. i think some seem a little sloppy, but thats ok. you should try a sharper pencil just to tighten them up a bit. great work man.

hey thanks for the comments flex
I know i'm loose (hehe) and it seems to either work for me or against me depending on how lazy i am.
i dont know if i could use a sharper pencil, i'm using a mechanical pencil right now. if the pages look kinda dirty/murky it's cause for some reason the sketchbook is smudgecity and i draw on bothsides of the paper so whenever i open my book i discover the pages have mated all over eachother.
gross.

I think you are going to make it ~ like your cats and the figures on the brown paper (use your whites only where you want the viewer to focus)
Keep it up ~ I will check in on you once in a while to see how you are doing.

My Lovelies,
tonight i present to you a virtual shit fiesta

i really had high hopes for this. it's a beautiful church but you wouldnt even know it cause i didnt use a ruler or horizon lines. i apologise about the woncky perspective and my wonky perspicacity*.

anubis - thanks for the nice words and advice. the fixative seems to do the trick. also. thanks, me and my smelly sketchbook are now the life of the party.

what am i doing bringing my sketchbook to parties.

dearest mentler
thanks for even looking at my slop. i'm from san antonio and was wondering if you have ever heard of the Coppini Academy of Figurative Arts? unfortunately it's the closest thing that we have to the TSOFA. if you're ever in town you should stop in.

i've got to apologize for how often this stupid cat appears in my sketchbook, but i cant help it, wherever i go he follows and then immediately falls asleep.

on tuesdays here, the natural history museum is free so i'm trying to go here and draw instead of wasting money on figure drawing sessions (trying to save up for the SF workshop )

I think i should really be posting this in the life section. It's not that i dont draw from imagination, i do. I just am embarrassed to post my conceptual stuff here. It's not terribly bad, but compared to my drawings from life i feel it's just lacking. It doesnt help that everyone who has a DSB is really good, even the peeps with no stars. (which by the way, it seems like theres more people with stars now than there are without)

So anyway, i think my problem with drawing from imagination comes from lack of confidence. Not having lots of confidence in it makes me not want to practice alot which makes me get frustrated easily, which makes me not satisfied with the drawings i produce which means i have low confidence in it - you see the cycle. I dont know if any of you have this problem, i'm guessing you wouldnt seeing as youre posting on a place called conceptart.org.

maybe i'll start posting conceptual stuff but until then i'm re-naming this thread.
