Hello all, This is my first post and I'm totally facinated with some of the things I've seen on this forum. I'm a firm believer that in order to progress one needs to surround themselves by those that are better. So here I am. Please as always, C&C are welcomed!

the idea of the character is great. his pose however is hard for me to understand. I think you need to utilize some foreshortening and the shading. be a bit more dramatic with the lighting. his personality is great though

His pose makes him look like a monster rapper!
Basically what he said, incorporate some shading and foreshorten a bit. I looks flat. You need to add some depth to the image, and thats what shading and foreshortening will do for you

yeah...maybe try thinking about it a couple of ways....cell-shaded look isn't the only way to go...don't be afraid to take it completely apart and start over. maybe lose he lines and take a painterly approach?
thanks for listnin'

also, a bit more color variety could be a good thing to let the monster look more alive.
look at the way jon foster paints faces - how glowing red his noses are.
give it some greenish shades, imply underlying anatomy of the strangest way you can imagine and give it lots of harsh shadows. shadows along with light give depth and a position in space to your character. not only paint the "body shadows" but also cast shadows where he casts shadows on his own body.
the pose is a bit hard to read. you could simply try shadowing it a bit stronger with some shadows on a multiply layer and see if it clears up enough. if it won't just turn him by a few degrees relative to your point of view and it may end up less confusing.
