I am an illustrator student from Sweden who has almost only been working with real paper and pens. Now I have just acquired a wacom graphire3 a5 board to do some sketching through the computer.

My question is this:

How do I position the board for the best results? When I draw with it, the lines i draw have a tendency to be straight in the beginning but they become curved at the end because i dont have enough coordination hand-to-screen. Is this just a training matter or is there something I should think about when I put the board on the desk?

Thanks

nothing to think about...just position it the way you fell comfortable...you can even put it on your nape if you'll get better results drawing in this pose...just try out...

I lean the upper edge of the wacom against the desk and rest the lower right on my chairs armrest. I feel it's more comfortable to sit upright instead of hunched over your desk. There is a picture of Ryan Church doing this on his website:

I hope this helps a fellow Illustration student. :)

hm yeah that seems to be an ok method to use. Too bad I forgot my real chair for the desk when I moved to school. Now all I have is a shitty IKEA chair without armrests and wheels. Yay!

Thanks for the tip though, I'll try it out as soon as I get an armrest :)
