ediitttt*****bunch of beginning pics are dead because the files were renamed.**
So intimidating, but I think I should give this a try. Atleast to motivate me to draw from life more.
Bit of info:
You can call me Ecco or my real name is shannon. Whatever works. Currently in high school, so I'm still young (17). Though I think I could be 5 times better than I am. Oh well, thats llife. I do wish to pursue a career in art, illustration at MCAD is what I am looking at right now. Though I would love to go to ringling....tis a bit far from me at the moment.
Mmm, that's all I can think of now. I'm sure everyone cares though :P. Onto the art thing.

Hey, thanks for looking :D Though when I look at people my age who are way better than me...I wish I was that good. But its how much you put into it that determines what you get out of it.
some ref used for the bunny knights :P Ugh, getting to the last few pages of my sketchbook. I always get so sad when that happens, but it's fun to skim through and see your progress from start to finish.

I LOVE that last character in the red jacket. Great ideas so far. A really strong start on your sketchbook. Nice style on the skull painitng too, It'd be cool to see a character rendered in that style!
Maybe work on the dimensions of faces a bit, I think it would make you characters even stronger in some of the shots. They are great already but it would just make them even stronger. But it's hard to give constructive criticism for sketches, y'know? :S

I'm liking the red jacket guy (ogre.jpg)
it's kind of manga-esque but the sketchy style and texture of the paints gives it some oomph. Your digi studies are well composed but the colors seem washed out and muddy compared to the painted sketches.
Show us some dynamic poses and foreshortening in the figures!

Yeah, really nice stuff here...love the watercolor stuff, and the b+w ones with crazy detail..Really the only thing I can even nitpick about is you seem to draw all your noses on the large/bulbous side...it's not even a techincal thing, because they do look natural, just a little bulbous, and it seems like a trend :D keep at it tho, you're awesome for 17, fawk i'm 24 and not even as good as you :P

okay, like all of these, most of my recent stuff really, is all about concept and color it seems. i dont know, anatomy is failing me, i need to do good studies soon. just working on dynamics it seems, without even realizing it until now. soon ill get my portfolio up and get some photos of my big class painting thing.

nice stuff, it seems like your color rendering is a little more fluid than some of your line rendering, which is cool but it would still be nicce to see you apply some of the techniques of lighting and form to your pencil sketches and pen sketches. what part of minnesota are you from? i go to school up there at mcad.

yeah, ive been told by the illustration someone at mcad that i should go abroad. yes, senior in hs, applying for ringling. decided to go a lil farther from home :P. just have to gather all my stuffs and send it. i would apply for mcad just for the heck of it, but i never took the act or sat >P since i woudl get a terrible score on it from never taking a lot of math or chemistry/physics. ringling doenst require that and jst more what i was looking for anyways. mcad is nice though, small, apts are nice, food is good, very cozy. just not a fan of big icky cities....

oh well, live and learn. im overall happy with it, thats what matters. oh yeah, I also should have picked a different number. I just saw a three that looked fancy so I scribbled that in, then decided it needed something next to it. terrible mistake, 13 is so cliche.

It's been awhile. Homework and a commision kept me away. THough my sketchbook is full of junk, most just scribbles for paintings. Anyways, had soem time yesterday, tried for a bunch of characters on one page. Colors with cheap ass craft paint because I have nothing better here at home. But I know whats next on the shopping list...acrylics -.-

Think im going to start some studies now. I've been doing some muscle stuff, but just messy scribbles. I need to learn line quality. Amongst a thousand other endless things. I must say that summer is making me lazy...

Wow! Like, nice stuff! I especially like the rough gestural style you carry throughout your character treatments - my advice is to keep up that style and keep up with the character sketching. Conceptual artists who can draw figures without excessive references and have a very strong style are highly in demand from movie character design to game design to book publishing. And those people usually get paid very well! $$$

I just scanned through your whole sketchbook, you've got a lot of really nice stuff. I especially love those bone studies you did recently. I can imagine it taking you quite a while :) The digi paints you've been doing have also been looking pretty damn nice. Looking forward to more

lines and colors and stuff is nice indeed, but there are some proportion issues as the size of the hands. I would not not give a damn, vigo :)
