Hi John Mac,
I like your design a lot, magical place , the motifs on the rocks are great giving the place a strong visuel identity. I feel the trees are not as well executed as the rest. The trunk of the tree on the far left is off centre and not so fine as the rest of the piece. As for the monument I love the entry to the passage tomb and the layout of the paving stones. The tuffs of grass look natuel, the over grown look gives the tomb and henge an aged look. A place for the old gods. this would make a good game enviroment or illustration. Good work
There is something about the lighting I want to talk about, can't formulate what I want to say at the minute, but I 'll write more later concerning that.

hey john mac.
i like this image. you have a great playfulness to your line and design. some of your other environment work has that as well. you should be pursuing some form of kids projects, books, cartoons\animation, toys, etc. if you aren't already.
good luck,

Very nice! Magiccy feeling there. A little too much saturation for me (in the darker blue sky) and some darker values/contrast in the foreground would be nice. If the foreground stones overlapped the mid-ground stones it would gain in depth.

hi, i did work in the animation business a few years ago then moved into doing online stuff and video work once all the large studios left Ireland. im back to where i belong again i feel, not sure where im going just yet, building up a folio and im going travelling, more than likely the UK or some where in main land Europe. still you never know. i would love to get into games etc, something at least that holds together

thanks for the comments , im glad you got the feeling of the piece. i will be going over this again later since im changing a tree trunk abit and a few detail points. if this was a location i could see the druids making a incantation to summon forward a spirit etc.

my suggestion would be to push the sense of space. It's lookin' great as it is, but if you lightened the trees a little bit in the background, it might add some atmosphere to the whole thing, and maybe desaturate the violet/blue in the sky just a tad? It just doesn't look right being that saturated if none of that color is getting onto any of the grass and stones. Also! You might TRY putting a stone right in the foreground, cropped a bit, just to give us a foreground element and a greater sense of depth... just a thought.
I'm diggin' it though! Keep it up

Definately some blue/gray atmosphere in the trees and maybe a little reflected light bouncing into the undersides ot the lintels so they're not quit so black.
