"Arts students were most likely to die from lung cancer or other forms of respiratory disease....
They wrote: "Arts students were more likely to have experienced socioeconomic deprivation in childhood.
However, it could simply be the case that the "arts" culture was more likely to result in a student who smoked."
Perhaps it has something to do with all the chemicals most schools use?

hmm
this is what happens when a journalist thinks too deeply on the wrong tangent. it's like saying "we've noticed that russians tend to drink more vodka than an average american".
i miss when i was a kid, that i didn't think critically about news stories :(

what they aren't saying is that some students smoke to relax and relieve stress...otherwise art related murders would be more common. Seems maybe every fifth person at my school smokes

I quit smoking nearly 2 years ago. I was a pack a day for 4-5 years. I even played on 2 soccer teams while smoking.
The funny part is when I started attending an art school, I quit smoking. Even crazier is the fact that there was a very noticeable increase in my creativity. :)

I'd rather die young and have followed my dreams than to die old and bitter and jaded.

What are you all complaining about? Everyone knows that artists are appreciated more after they're dead. Look at it this way; your work will be valued at much higher prices and sell like hotcakes.
as for me, I hope I go out in my prime and in a glorious blaze of explosions and profanity.

Medics, on the other hand, were more likely to die as a result of accidents, suicide and violence.
... will someone please tell me how the fuck you are meant to be "MORE LIKELY" to die from accidents or violence?

AAAAHHH!
Everything causes cancer and we are all going to die! Good otherwise this planet would be so full of people I'd be pushing them out of the way just to get to my front door.
BTW Did you know that water has been proven to be a deadly poison! It's true. Sure it takes probably 70-100 years to kill you, but to date nobody has ever survived water poisoning. Worse there seams to be no antidote.

I'm working on a theory that birth is the leading cause of death, but the f-ing government refuses to fund my studies.

Less art students = less competition. I'm not going to die form anything weak like lung cancer. I'm going to die in a Duel with a big Dinoasaur or something.
