I was wondering? A teacher of mine mentioned that schools seem to teach the 3d students all about the software, but then they lack the traditional drawing skills to apply their software knowledge...are there any students out there that feel this way?

I was also told that i need to learn 2d before i can handle high end 3d stuff. and besides, if i take my software classes now, then go back to traditional to finish my major. The software will be out dated by the time i look for a job.

I'm only 19-in my first semester, but aparently I been doin it all wrong. I model in 3d as often as i sketch just about. I wanna take it all at once, I don't wanna be partial to either 2d or 3d. so I'm askin, is it better to "specialize" or stay as versatile as possible?

I'd love to hear anyone's school experience or advice. It makes a big difforence to someone like me. I've gotten good feedback before, so I'm coming back for more.
