i was working on my wizard image last night when my computer crashed...
no problem... i save my work like ever 5 minutes BUT
when i rebooted all my saved psd files for this image were gone!
and the only file that i could find was a .tmp file....
when i renamed it from .tmp to .psd it windows showed me this

http://www.zengfx.com/error/windows.gif

but when i load it up in photoshop (7)
it looks ruined ... like this

http://www.zengfx.com/error/damn.jpg

ive searched windows all over for the file
and the only thing i could find was that tmp file

does anyone know how to fix this file so i DONT lose
my work?

Sounds complicated...

Did you open it in acdsee or another pictureviewer? If it works, you could make screenshots and put it together in ps later...of course you won't get your layers back, but better than nothing...

try doing a search for it.
go to the start up tab at the bottom of your screen it is on the left.
click it.
then look for search.
look for the option for files and folders.
then type in the name of one of the files you lost.
and then hit enter.
if that does not work then it is a dark day in the art world my friend.
your files are gone.
good luck.

Looks like you have been working on this on a MAC.....

Are you switching back and forth between PC & MAC??????

Did you rename it in WINDOWS?????
do not do that it will do as shown or worse.....
It needs to be "SAVED AS"

Always Save back-up files and sve interations!!!!!!:D :D
Then when U R done BURN it to CD!!!!!:D

If you're running WinXP or WinME, you could see if there's a restore point for the day before this happened, or even that day, and use System Restore to go back to that day.

If you do that, you'll lose anything you've done AFTER the system restore point was made though, but if you back up the things you've done since then to CDR, THEN do the System Restore, it might be a good idea.
