My apetite to paint suddenly disappeared. happens sometimes. I don't think I have enough patience to ever finish anything. Why does it have to be so cumbersome to paint?
In my opinion digital tools give more artistic freedom to experiment and move things around, modify colors, etc. However, since I have a background with natural media I also apreciate all the textures and intous tools you get with natural media. Right now I'm torn between the use of natural and digital paint tools so I can't really concentrate on getting anything done. I'm not really pleased with how PS5.5 fails to produce textured strokes. Once I get that I'd prolly abondon painting with acrylics, it's just too slow and tedious.

(the head knob is the only part I like)

Why don't you give painter a try...it combines traditonal painting and ps very well...
I like the head too, also the arm...the problem is that the rendering beneath got very dirty and without depth! Nevertheless awesome drawing as always, prometheus!

wow! i wold like to see this finished but leaving some areas of looseness. i think you are vary close to done just a little more work on the robots right side (our right).
please send in a larger file. the work and color on the head and shoulders is....head and shoulders above!
i think you and painter 7 would make great friends as well.

Hey Prom - Joe P here. Just wanted to say this is another great lesson in painting economically, and another which I am trying to learn from! I love it, as you know. Later.

Glad u peeps liked it. I liked it less. The reason why I stopped is probably the arm pose which is really weird on both pics, and there's some fundamental problems it's too late to fix in this state. The large one has an acrylic base color (A3 size) but I got tired of it and tossed it into PS, and then got tired of it again. I misplaced the file so I'll have to find it.
Foster> u think I should leave the legs totally unrendered? Rust doesn't have any speculars so I'd prolly have to stay away from highlighting em up much. I think I need to add the white paint on some spots tho, and the feet need some metal damage (silver colored craters).
It's holding a gun that I'll make black metal and pop a few lights on.
The eyes dun match sizewise.
The specular on the armpit arm is really just white paint, but it looks like a specular so I'll remove it.
Arm needs fixing on many spots, and hand is not rendered.

Some other robot pics (sketches/doodles type) I found in a folder.

For those who liked the rusty robot, here's my almost secret 'RoboTrek' comic project.
http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/robotrekdir.php
It's all natural media (acrylics) from some years ago. Painting with acrylics is messy cuz sometimes I don't have the color I want on my palette. The comic is about a couple of robots and a girl in a 'robot-monster post apocalyptic enviroment'. I finally got some A3 papers (only 100grams) so now I might be able to work on it again, and upgrade some of the designs a bit.

Wow! you are more talented than I remembered. I love all those robot sketches and the different robot paintings themselves. I like the rusted theme.:)
