Sorry I don't have any monsters right now. I'm in school and miss my family.

I like it; you're a real artist.
I'd like to know stuff like: -Do you paint digitally or traditionally, do you go outside to paint these or draw them from pictures or from your head...stuff like that. :)

I also get a sad feeling from it. This looks like it is done traditionally, but then again looks are deceiving. I like the composition, and painting overall. Even though i never lived in a place like that when I was small, I fell like im the little kid. "I don't want to grow up cuz im a toys r' us kid.":p
It just reminded me of that....sorry! How big is this and how long did it take you?

I use all media, traditional and digital, although I haven't used a true digital painter program yet. Images I'll be showing for awhile are traditional media, mostly oil paintings. I'm in the middle of updating my training to include 3D modeling and animation, and have nothing to show yet, as I'm still butchering polygons and working very hard to make things that turn out awful. In 3 or 4 more months I should be able to post some new work. Most likely in sketchbook, lifedrawing, and 3D.
My source material? Sometimes I'll see something and decide I have to make a composition for it. Other times I have a mood or a line of motion I want to develop, so I hire models, do sketches, take reference pictures. From that I'll develop the pose and subject composition. Then more work to refine the content and overall lighting. Then more refined study drawings. I hardly ever start painting unless I'm perfectly aware of what I'm doing. From time to time I try to avaoid all this preparation, but 8 times out of 10 wind up with some small problem that either takes forever to solve or can jeopardize the whole painting. ( see my post on the women thread)
Thanks for your interest.
Ps,how long did this one take? Oil paintings are time consuming and take about 4-6 weeks. The initial preparation and development usually takes1-2 weeks.
Most of my models are my neighbors. I like the slightly off-balance feeling of untrained models, and it also makes me work harder to identify what I'm looking for.
