I think I picked on WoW in another thread, but after reading about EQ2, and other games, WoW seems the most promising. Maybe those of us in CA.org could start a guild in the game.

I haven't played any MMORPG:s for some time now, but I have finally moved to a new place with a bether connection and I have the newes Dell laptop comming next weak so I ha ve seriously been looking at it.

I think it might be a great game to return to the community once more but I am a bit worried about the game at the same time.

but i am starting to think i would like to go troll>shaman.

i played lineage2 for about 5months as the most item based character in the game and hardest character to play...it got rather annoying, so i think the shaman is less item based and could be alittle friendly for me.

The cool thing they have are totems, they run around setting them up for certain battle sistuations, and there are a ton they have access too

A hard question, I like all races for one or another reason so I am quite uncertain on what I will choose in the end.
The orcs are like the "green, mean, fighting machines" when you look at them but the trolls are also cool...

and the NE is in my taste probably the best looking characters in the game while I can't help thinking that a Halfling mecha maniac would be great too. :)

Davi: Only Tauren and Night Elves can be druids.

I'm playing a dwarf paladin on the stress test servers and think the class works really well overall, both good offense and defense as well as revive, though personally I've always liked them so I may be bias.

I actually haven't played this afternoon because of school, couldn't say the same with EQOA last year. :^^;:

i got to play in the stress test a bit...it kicked ass, i played around with a druid, was good stuff.
im gonna be a night elf druid, or human/ dorf paladin

you know, as silly as they look, the gnomes kick ass. i made a gnome mage and he is like uber powerful and can really blast things up!! plus you learn a spell to make water (to restore mana) and summon food (for health) which is great since you don't need to waste money on that stuff.

also warlocks are great since you get your first familiar pretty early on (i got mine at lvl 4) and as a team you do some serious damage.

it's gonna be tough decieding what to play during open beta and when this thing goes retail. my rogue still sounds appealing since you can duel wield at lvl 10 (4 more lvls for me). and my tauren druid is great because shapeshifting is awesome and being a bear kicks ass!!

I'm getting WoW for sure now. I was just talking with a friend about it and figured out that the troll shaman guy is like a werewolf and druids are similar...this has been something I've been craving in a game for a long long time. Also my friend explained to me how non-addictive WoW is compared to other games such as evercrack, and I find the fun playing it will far outweigh any possible obsession I get from it.

Well, there are up to five characters per group, of course there would have to be some variety of classes, like a warrior, priest, mage ect.

Also, theres an option to share quests with other players assuming they're eligable for that particular quest.

As for whether it would be an alliance/horde guild, the leveling in the beta now is fast enough that one could probably get at least two(i.e. alliance and horde) characters up to the high end levels within a month or two of casual play. And from what I've heard from Blizzard representatives, they're pretty happy with the leveling system at this point and will probably have it stay that way.

So, what about a name? :thinking:

the leveling will slow down for release. i'm sure the first 5-10 lvls will fly by pretty quick but from there it will be the typical 'grind'.

there is a certain requirement for guilds to get started, i believe you need at least 10 people in order to start one but i'm not 100% sure. someone help me out here.

as far as system specs go, i'm running it on a pentium 1.6ghz, 600+megs of ram, a GEforce 2 video card and a 15" monitor (roughly 6 years old now). it runs smoothly and looks good enough for me to enjoy it. i'm sure with a newer video card it would look much better.

Horde is cooler imo. I mean trolls, zombies and orcs... OR dwarves(cool), humans(done to death), and elves(I don't know about elves). If I had to, I'd go alliance and just druid it up. As long as I can transform =D I won't be getting WoW "right away", but you can count on me to join the guild when I do get it. Also, I have very little idea of how mmorpgs work exactly, ie: servers, pvp, etc. so I'll be noobing it up big time =P

Well I guess we should figure out if we are going to be Allianr or Horde....

Then we should try to develop a very balanced guild, I am not sure what the customization options are but a color scheme to match the guild would be great as well, lol, just no pink.

We also need to decide the guild name. There have been some awesome ideas, we should get a poll running on that.

The time zone issue shouldn't be too huge, we should try and come up with a regular play time that works for most of us.

A site? Should we venture into this little world of a website or should we just keep this thing small?

PVP sounds like fun.. although I can imagine things would be a hell of a lot more difficult. I play an Alliance Warlock and I had to go into orc/Horde territory to finished a quest and get my succubus summons. Guards all over (who repeatedly killed me.. thankfully there is no real death penalty), taunts by orcs and undead players the whole time (who like to follow you around way too much LOL!). I can imagine it would have been quite the party in PVP. I think I will PVP once it goes gold though.

Ill probably stick with Alliance. I am not sure why but the Horde really doesnt interest me. Sounds kind of cheesy because they look cool but.. I just dont like their story. Every race in the Horde is a race that was manipulated and used up. I know, I know, its dumb.. but I just dont like their history. Every race in the Horde sounds like they gave into, and were manipulated by some outside evil which makes them seem somehow weaker to me.. where the Alliance has always fought against those forces.

I know I am already spending too much time playing and too much time reading the WoW story when I am able to write something like that :S

You can pre-order at any games store, like EB and Game Stop, its $80 though...but goodies are worth it.

Ventrilo is a voice communicating system software, there is a post stickied in the Lounge here about all you need to know.

I played the stress test. I'm not sure how meeting up will go. Because the game is very quest orientated. First several levels will be spent getting enough to transport to meeting spots. Possibilities like, Stormwind for Alliance, and Origmaar (sp?) for Horde. Or we could all level up in our homelands and then adventure into the higher lvl lands that are not really assigned to any race. And pvp of course.

Blizzard said the're planning to establish player housing soon after release, and probably guild housing as well. Theres going to be alot of support for guilds in this game.

And give a +1 for PvP and CAO as a guild name.

With a game like this i strongly recommend you wait at least a month after its release. There will still be allot of quirks and problems with the games. IMO - you want the best gaming experience possible. Especially if youre payin monthly for it.

DAVI - you can do PVP on the regular servers, it's consensual... like sex. the main difference is on PVP servers everyone is open game. on the regular servers you have to turn on your PVP status so you are marked. the during raids and such you can fight along.

i don't know about you but i fear being low level and getting killed by a higher level guy, then having said guy camp my corpse and kill me when i ressurect. thus forcing me to give up some XP just to be brought to life in the grave area... no fun.

also, for coordinating the guide colors, you buy a tabbard (i think that's the name) for 1 silver, you can pick a logo for it and the colors. that's how you know what guide everyone is in. you also get that chinsy guild name under your name.

No i didnt get a chance to play the beta...was a little too late....good to know about its stability....but keep in mind too there will be allot more people on the servers than during beta. But you make valid points.

Mrfrost: The closed beta has much less people than the stress test did. Stress test was 100,000 slots all logging in at once, and it was great. I was really impressed.

About the PvP. I tried both, and really like the pvp servers. Its alot of fun when your hunting for a quest, and you see some horde members skulking around the woods. Knowing that they could be a threat, and that you can ambush em is great.

I dont like the consensual pvp, rape and pillage i say. I mean I was a NE, and i see a tauren and undead running around my forest. And I cant attack them, they just follow and taunt me a second time. Blood, smash, kill. It makes more sense with the story line. Most higher level raiders, leave the lowbies alone, in my experience anyways.
