Hello,
Can anyone help me?
I need to know what the best way is to copyright my
material. I have a so many songs, but am too afraid to
shop them around, at least until I know how to protect
myself. Is there anyone out there who can shed light
on my problem please?
Greatly Appreciated

Hah. I don't know the normal route but I know the Starving Artist's Copyright.

What you have to do is take what ever you want to be provable as originally yours and put a copy of it in an envelope and any other evidence towards it being created by you (work in progress stuff). And then mail it (through the US postal service) to yourself. Do not open it and put it somewhere safe. There! You have yourself a poor/lazier man's copyright.

Reason this works: The US Postal stamps every piece of mail with the date and time it was processed. Now if anything comes up where you feel the need to take someone to court you can take that out and use it as evidence of your creation.
