View Full Version : Drawing in Class II.

Well kids, it's that time again. School time. Oh, yeah. We all know what that means, sketching, doodling and just plain ol' getting your art on.
We all know why we're here and we know what to expect, BUT just in case we get some new folks along for the ride I'm going to lay out the basic ground rules for this thread.
1. Drawings must be from in class. The only other acceptible drawings are from work (while working, your break doesn't count) and from a restaurant.
2. You CAN do a better version of any in class sketch, BUT if you post it here, only post the LINK and not the image. That keeps load times down and also keeps this thread mainly what we're here to see.
3. Crits are always welcome, but keep in mind these aren't necessarily master works, but rather a way to pass time.
4. Everything from the old DiC thread must stay there. Only want to see new stuff here.
5. Keep FanArt to a minimum. In fact, little to NONE is more the way to go. Shouldn't be a problem.
That's the general gist of things. Anybody who has any misc. odd questions can PM me or mr.right. He should be able to take care of things since he is the brain child behind this whole thing.
So, now it's here, load it up.
(I'll have some stuff ready tomorrow night. Just in case you're all wondering why I didn't include any images.)

i really like the idea of this thread. I draw my best in class, for some reason.

I'm so freakin' back!
And I'm on the warpath for boring classes. I plan to retaliate with my new slew of pencil leads and a strange fascination of the freaks and weirdos in my classes. Do you think you can escape me, three-colors-in-your-hair girl? Where are you off to, safety-pin-piercing-beneath-your-eye guy?
To be honest, most of my classes are really interesting, but I have "Women In Media Culture" today and it's boring as hell. Last time we had an hour and a half discussion about the word "media". Today we're supposed to discuss "women." Lauren Grham is a woman, and I see her on TV. I think I've got this class covered.

There are several reasons for the new thread. The first is that over the course of the summer, the original DiC thread really got away from the core idea of the thread so starting over seemed more logical. The second reason was what mr.right said to me, there are some people who might find posting in a 4+ page thread a bit intimidating and it's good forum policy to let threads die off rather than force them into a horrid continuation.
AND I REALLY WANT MORE PEOPLE TO CONTRIBUTE!!! So far, so good.
As for your question Ether, let's keep it strictly in class for now. Besides, there should be enough content from that in and of itself without adding anything more. Besides, you gave a good point, people could "cheat." Hehe. That doesn't even sound right.
Anyway, here's the first batch from the new semester. They are from Tuesday - Thursday:

This isn't the greatest, but please understand that this is the most boring class I think I've ever taken at UT and I was about to pass out right in the middle of these notes. Infact the only thing that was really preventing me from doing just that was the fear that I was snore of drewl. But I'm sure that there will be more of these doodles this year.

@ mouCe: very cool stuff. Your perspectives are a bit off in both pieces, but really solid compositions in each.
@ Eew: interesting style. Try to be a bit less erratic with your line work. Slow it down and really do more with less.
@ JAUrrutia9: I think we all have a meteor like that hunting us. Keep them coming.
It's really great seeing so many new folks around these parts. Now you all just have to stick with it.

eww i love your style.. it reminds me alot of Egon Scheile
that end of days thing cracked me up. My roomate used to have an old roomate who had a computer with a horrible "end of days" screen saver on it. So like every five minutes or so it would restart and send out this satanic cacapohny with clips of Arnold inserted in. to this day, if you even mention that sequence of words, my roomate will yell out "FUCK END OF DAYS" and became irate.

ahh memories..wish i hade my trunk of art at my new house....every year highschool through college i'd go through all my notebooks, assignments, etc. and cut out my favorite bits of artwork i did instead of paying attention. used to get in trouble all the time for drawing in class..haha showed them! now i make video games those suckers:) keep it up guys, you're stuff is great!

@Zeb : yeh big thx ! and i know .. i know .. i dunno if i can call that style as i draw only for 2 months .. :nohope: ..so i will be changing "style" a lot in this year .. you 'll see .. and the do more with less is my eventual goal :confident
@ schadenfreude : wel Egon is my second favorite artist after Marko(hehe i think everyone loves marko ... ) i think i enjoy the ruff work and the agressievness of both aritists and its something that i eventualy wish to achieve... and LOL @ your roomate .. say i'll do some more specialy for him :} lol ......
ps : if anyone interested to see my stuff from the first day i started draw till now just look in my daily :\
I hope it counts as a school sketch .. we need to have a drawing logbook for school .. this was done in pencil first(in school) but i didnt liked how it came out so i redo it with pen ... and yeh teh frame around is just crap ....but its too late to redo now ..(and i couldnt get the full page .. as its a "book" ..)

oh, and advice to everyone : dont get with a girl who lives on your floor.
I have to disagree. Getting with a girl that lived above me ended up to be the best relationship ever. Now that we live 15 minutes away, it's harder for me to just go crawl in bed with her when it's 3am and I'm tired of whatever crap I was working on.
And I'll work harder to not pay attention in class, so as to have something to post. Believe it or not, in only one of my classes do I actually have a pen and paper in my hands.
@JAUrrutia: what's the most boring class at UT? I'm here and although I'll only have one more semester after this, I want to be sure I don't take it.
Zeb
September 6th, 2004, 10:23 PM
@ LittleEric: Damnit Eric, you and your dumb ass questions. Clearly you CAN'T use the drawing class stuff because your SUPPOSED to be drawing, thus violating the concept of drawing while your supposed to be not drawing. So give up work from your other classes, besides people will love what you do. You crazy bastard.
@ Eew: Your work gets more interesting every time you post.
@ Dutch: Damnit man, welcome back. Show us some stuff.
@ mr.right: Enough with the teasing! I demand content!
My plan this time around is to have an end of the week dump on Fridays. That way, instead of having a sketch or two here and there, there is a nice batch of new content on Friday NIGHT. Besides, I'm having trouble putting together things this early in the semester. My brain just doesn't like the multi-tasking or something. Argh! Soon, soon it'll all be like it should.

@ Epoch: Wow. Thank you.
@ Ether (and everyone else who cares): During my sophomore year (in highschool...I'm in college now, we don't have parent / teacher conferences anymore) in what I think was Algebra II...I think, anyway I drew all over this bull shit test that I refused to take and ended up having a parent / teacher conference over it. The teacher said it was disrespectful, then tried to say that I didn't know the material and what not. She tried to call me an idiot. Those who know me, know that I ACT like an idiot, but the actual deal is that I'm really fscking smart. So anyway, what I did was show the teacher how much of a fscking retard she was by showing her things about the material she DIDN'T even know. Thus, proving that the test and her attitude about me were entirely bull shit. My mom took me out to dinner after that. I think the fact that one of the doodles on the page was me slaughtering the math book and uh, an effigy of the teacher might have been the problem...or was it the other stuff..? Hehe, anyway, the test was confiscated so I have no proof what so ever. You can believe me if you want to or not, doesn't matter to me. That's my story though.
Pics tomorrow kiddies!

more sperm for the masses.
http://www.right.demonicpillbug.com/pics/notebook/1_6.jpg
Well.... BATTLE STORIES!
One of my math teachers had a bad habit of putting her but in your face when she was helping other students so I drew this huge posterior with an overly visible panty line. She wasn't fat, but I didn't find her attractive. She didn't see it and I didn't get in trouble BUT I think I can track down that drawing and post it. (soph year, high school)
A year earlier in English class however, I was given a crap assignment about Romeo & Juliet and/or Love. Don't get me started on how much I hate that play. You can't tell me to read something like that and then turn around and throw a fit because teenagers in my story commit suicide. Anyway, I remember thinking that I was going to draw somewhere on the assignment but I ended up drawing a huge guy that I couldn't fit his legs on the page and then I put like a two paragraph response as best I could on the rest of the page. When I turn it in the teacher loves it so much she wants to put it in a literary journal. I kid you not.
And what about the first Drawing in Class thread? Does anyone remember the journal that I had to write and instead I drew Xena: Warrior Princess? I got an A for that.
OH, one final word of advice for the college crowd. When writing in blue books (flimsy books of notebook paper they make you take essay tests on), once you've finished your test and you know the TA has to grade them you might think about putting something on the page after the page you finished on with a little prompt for them to turn the page. If you put in a joke or a comical drawing/quote it will be a nice surprise in the middle of boring paper grading and just might sway that B into an A.

hahahahahaha, funny stuff, guys...
i got one: two years ago, i used to hate english (as a subject), because my teacher was also my homeroom teacher. she used to give us all these crazy ass homework like: "pick a job and describe the advantages an disadvantages of that job" or stuff like "invent your own celebration and describe a festival for it". so, on every homework i would draw a little me killing a little homeroom teacher with an english book in her hands. i got an A on every single homework...

Thanks alot for the Comments on my work. :bashful: As for Doodles on assignments that have gotten me in trouble, I have WAY too many to tell. Lets just say that many of my adolescent sketches were of minotaurs decapitating the principal and so-forth... One instance that I Will share with you however earned me a big fat ZERO on a section exam. It was WAY back in Freshman year (I'm currently a Senior), and we had a HUGE exam in Geometry, for which I had forgotten to study. So, prior to heading to that period, i stood by my locker and wrote all the formulas I thought i might need on the palm of my hand (how original huh?). Anyway, the Exam went by without a hitch, thanks to my ingenious preparation. I was the First one done. After turning my Test in while stealthily hiding my hand, I sat down at my desk and stared off into space, not sure what i should do next. While i waited I was inspired by the teacher's calendar, which was Castle themed. I took out a Sharpie and started drawing a dragon on the back of my hand (I was a little weird i guess). While i was rotating my hand (the same hand which had my secret formulae), the teacher happened to walk by and see the exposed evidence of my crime. Immediatly she grabbed my hand, walked me back to her desk, and marked my Exam with a ZERO across the top.
Let me tell u.. this was ONE hard failure i had to explain to my parents :nohope:
Heh, live and learn i guess. (Now i just program my formulas into my TI-83) :}

Might as well start with my comments first, then provide the new images. Here goes:
@ -Polaris-: I like em. Diverse. The creature is quite interesting. Oh, and welcome!!! Thanks for contributing.
@ mr.right: Love the Super Girl, and, uh, what's with all the sperm? And I found the penguins hilarious. Go FIGHT CLUB!!!
@ Ether: so post some in class art man.
@ skid: Hehe, eyeball monsters. Genius. Good story too.
@ ][ggy2112: *scratches head* angry? Welcome. Thanks for taking part!
@ Epoch: figuring out that I could program just about any equation into my calculator saved me countless hours on tests and homework. You can make animations too...just ask Ether. Kid was a genius with calc. animations. Would it be to much to ask for more art? Puh-lease?
There be the comments, here be the images:
My sketches seem to be more on the doodle side, and a lot less interesting than some of the other stuff on here. Guess I just need to up my game...

@ Ether: man, what're you talking about? Your stuff is decent man, just fine. Oh, and did you notice that I was sorta referencing your Pygmies with that skeleton there. Actually, when I was sketching it I was thinking of those little bastards of yours slaughting stuff and running amok, and that's what came from it. Hehe. You should do some stuff with those that falls under the criteria of this thread so people could see those funny little bastards in action.
@ Eew: Cool man, and you won't be posting anymore? WTF!! NO man, try, try really frikkin hard. You can't just cut out on us.
@ ][ggy2112: I'd say work on your perspective and anatomy, there are some severe issues there. Then again, I have to keep in mind that this is a DiC thread and most of these really aren't well-thought-out works of art that we're spending hours on. Keep it in mind though, anatomy and perspective, hell school is probably one of the best places for it because you're surrounded by live models!
@ jett: Hard to tell what you have going on there, BUT from what I can see looks like fun. fencing huh? Interesting. The foreshortening is off on the top fencer, and your shapes don't match up like they should in the general fencer. The top image is hard to get, but from what I can grasp the shoulder looks dislocated and her hand is completely backwards (it's physically impossible for the hand to be like that). The head also bulges a bit to far out around the fore-head.
Out.

Well I forgot it was Monday and SLEPT through my first class. Yeah, I'm a dumb ass, it happens. So that's one less oppurtunity for skizzetching.
Now, I have a lot of reading to do for a class called "Texts and Contexts," wrap your head around that for awhile. Perhaps I'll quote a part of the textbook to show you how BAD my skull aches when I'm done the reading...it's horrible. College, bah humbug.

hey all,
mr right thats some cool doodle you got there. i like how his third arm is upside down, and i love th way you draw hands, really simplebut it tells alot of info, i think ill try that out. ummm, who said anything about paying attention inclass? sometimes ill chime into the class conversaton, but mainly i just sit, head down drawing away. i have these kohlinoor rapidograph pens with very fine tips, so they sort of just lend themselves to that kind of detailed work, the pen i usually use has a .25mm tip. i pretty much have to do alot of detail or there would be only simple shading. plus i dont mind taking all that time to do ridiculous shading becuase its in some stupid class anyway. dont follow my example though, you should ay attention in class. i think most of my teachiers hate me. more doodles!!!!
Zeb
September 14th, 2004, 10:59 PM
Damn. What else is there really to say?
Alright alright, some serious comments perhaps?
@ nephilim: Your pen work inspires me. I myself, live by the Bic pen and all its glory, but YOUR work, my friend, truly leads one to believe in higher penmanship. Wow, now that is a load of ass-kissing. Got to get that stench off me now!
@ PHATandy: The only thing I can say is that your three drawings lack consistency. They almost appear to be from different time frames. The first two lack the inticacy and detail (as well as the overall goodness) of the third. I'm thinking you lean more towards drawing the abstract as compared to the real. More off-the-cuff than proportional and anatomical correctness. While ok, when placed side by side it is apparently obvious and rather distracting.
@ Ether: hehe, pygmies. No problem there. Oh, but uh, what's with those enormous feet?
@ Dutch: Interesting. No need to state the obvious right? We all have things we need to work on. Drawing humans sucks.
@ mr.right: Also interesting, especially because we don't generally see you draw in such a style. It's a welcome twist to see another aspect to your bag-o-tricks. Your manipulations and interpretations to other styles and works makes for a fun new approach (although I feel your violating a rule somewhere...hehe). Those knees appear to be awkward. The face behind the mask really doesn't work with the overall schema of the image either.
I really wish I had something to say about nephilim that even approached a useful comment. Something'll hit me eventually. When it does, be ready.
Anyway, day two this week didn't produce much, atleast I'm not so sure it did. The day is a blur now. Oh, and mr.right, I, uh, took your advice today and provided a nice little sketch at the end of this writing exercise we had today in German. Damn Blue Books.
Till next time folks.

@ Ether: DUDE, you are so obsessed with that girl man. Sheesh. Well, we talked about it already. Nice stuff. It's like that "notebook" all over again...only more public. Haha.
It's almost Friday. I'm worried though, becuase there is so much more in this new DiC thread than there ever was in the last one. Last time it was between me and mr.right 80% of the time. Also, I did some screwing around in Flash durning my animation course. The instructor was introducing us to the program, which, if you've been to my website you know that I already understand the program's basics. Anyway, I've linked some work I did in class, but beware! You'll only be able to see it if you have Flash MX. I was working on a Mac, which uses Flash MX. However, I have a PC at home. PC's use Flash MX 2004. For some stupid reason Macromedia released these without making them compatible. It wouldn't have been a problem if I had exported the movie, or saved the file as a Flash 5 file, but I am stupid. If you have Flash MX, you can watch and play around with my file here: pretty_pretty (https://webspace.utexas.edu/watsoncp/pretty_pretty.fla ) . I'd just like to point out that I used some of Benegal's artwork (http://www.cafesale.net/bengal/gallery.php3) .

My pen from yesterday made me want to do more today. So I decided to draw some people from my classes. These are all real people, and parts of people. If in some odd freaky coincidence one IS you, I hope you're not offended.
Unfortunately there are more obvious errors here... as when people don't know they are part of art, they tend to move about alot.

"@schadenf...: so... I also saved your carrot. I AM CURIOUS. How do you get away with drawing nude females in class? At the very least, the people next to you must notice. "
I go to an art school, where we do life drawing. I think everybody is relatively mature and comfortable with the nude body. i sit next to several girls, and frankly, i dont give a damn what they think of what i draw. im completely comfortable drawing pretty much anything in front of pretty much anybody. I blame live painting. anyway, i need to cut down on drawing chicks so much, im too horny for my own good.

More distractions and less concentration makes for more random and less focused in class doodles.
Only things from reference are hand and back of head towards lower area.
The other stuff is just random practice. If you knotice any amazingly important things I am doing wrong please do tell. I'm here to improve and lower my grades in all my classes. Help me do both :)

bagparrot: Hehe, that's rad, I tell ya! Love the dog, he tells many things, I see. Some crits to help, if you are looking for supjects to draw, draw the kids in your class, I do that alot, I think... that guy bottom to the right is something like that, and I think you need to improve your anatomy too :o
And... draw the bunny when he is killing people! >:D
I do study alot in my school, but... when it come to boring subjects, I draw, or I get sleepy and fall to sleep. These sketches is since yesterday, and... today I slept, but I woke up when the teacher finally found something cool to talk about.
All these sketches is very quickly drawn, and some of them have the purpose to show my friends my feeling about others in my school, as you can see, you are lucky that you aren't in this school :P
Tomorrow I will go to some art show in a bank... VERY early... I don't feel like going ~_~

It's almost Wednesday and I've already got four solid contributions done...at this rate I'll have to post tomorrow night AND Friday night. Uh oh. I may have to try and pay attention tomorrow.
To answer the unasked question: The reason Ether is completely gone isn't because of me or what I said about / to him. He just decided he needed to step back and start over. He'll be back when he's ready. Trust me, he's already told me several times how much he regrets deleting EVERY post he's had here at CA. The things we do on whims, I swear, are often the worst.
Anyway, solid and somewhat funny work fellows. Keep 'em coming.

I did do this IN CLASS when I was supposed to be paying attention to the teacher. It's not a conventional sketch, and there are several works of art from Benegal. However, I still consider it canon for this thread.

Mr Right, that flash is way cool.
I inadvertently downloaded it somehow and then found it on my desktop a couple days ago and was amazed... i thought it just appeared or something.. then just now i discovered the truth that it was from here
i love the drawing style, from the southeast asian-like graphical elements to the somewhat "realistic anime" style of the characters.
as an animator i would suggest working on the abrupt stops after an object moves into place. either ease it into that position (slow the speed of it near the end) or give it a slight rebound after it hits home like its jolting into place.
great colours, and one question: How did you get that online? i have some flash ive been to put up but dont know how.

I haven't received an E-mail in awhile (I'm subscribed to this thread) and I figured I'd call in a priest and have him perform the Last Rites on this bitch.
Then I figured I'd just scan the things I've gotten done this week.
THEN, I ended up doing other things.
And now I don't feel like doing the scanning, resizing, uploading, and posting / linking thing. I don't have the ten-fifteen minutes that that takes.
Instead I give you my solemn promise that tomorrow night, midnight at the latest, there will be new images by me in this thread. And I don't think they'll dissapoint. (I've been doing gestures of people I see...hehe)
Well now, this lack of participation doesn't bode well. Considering this thing took off like a rocket those first couple of weeks. Sorry I haven't been able to keep up with the comments and crits. I'm lucky to have time to check my mail some days. I guess we're all feeling it. Those mid-semester blues. Midterms coming up...BLAH!
Well, I'll come through on my end tomorrow.

Sorry for not posting-been extremely busy. On three seperate ocassions last week I finished a paper 10 minutes before it was due. The largest of which was 7 pages. I probably have enough sketches in my notebook to scan, clean, resize, upload, and link, but that just seems like a lot of work to me right now. Especially considering I should be in class at the moment, wasting time, bored out of my skull, listening to the professor drone on about Geology, which is a class I shouldn't have to take. So on and so forth.
I have, however, been donating a lot of time to this (http://www.zebzero.com/images/Absolutionv2.jpg) drawing. It has nothing to do with this site. I just felt the need to link it somewhere for something. I may go put it in the NMCBII and pray someone paints it.
Dutch - Glad to see you keeping the ball rolling. Gives me the warm fuzzies.
Skid - Welcome back, yet again.
Newbie - I love the pen work.
skirmisher - Welcome, and damn.
eygji - You sir, are a machine. Welcome to the party.
mr.right - We've been so lonely without you. Why must you torment us with your absence. Ok, seriously though, I like the Flash.
This is where I make all sorts of silly promises about these so-called sketches in my thing that is refered to as a notebook and how I'll put them into the scanning thing called a scanner and so on.
Maybe later if you're all REALLY good. Oh wait, I work later. Uh, make that later as in Friday since I'll be home alone and bored as fu...nevermind.
Later.

Sorry, had to take the flash down, not enough webspace.
I would post more, but like I said before, I don't like posting my absolute crap. Honestly, try starting an absolute crap page and watch how fast it gets blam-ed. And it's not like I'm not trying, just some stuff ends up as crap. You all know how it is.
Though, I find it's less likely to be crap if I keep working it. Even when I think I'm over-working it, it usually comes out a lot better... just if y'all are looking for a way to save otherwise bad art.
Anyway.
First things first, I said I'd finish this guy and I did.

ZEB; I liked your abstract work before, but now you're melding it with a sense of story that is much more attractive than your previous efforts. That last pic is very nice indeed.
SKID; your anatomy has gotten better. honestly.
DUTCH; your experimentation is always refreshing. That pencil shading you did two pieces ago was skilled. And the careful inking on your last pic is great.

NOW THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!
I feel like we're definitely taking it up a notch! Does anyone else feel as proud as I do about our progress?
working backwards here:
@DUTCH: these pictures are indeed "badass". I really like the mixture of pen techniques.
@ZEB: I really like your pictures of the "girl". for some reason now I've got that song "pictures of you" stuck in my head... who is that song by? Filter? No, they sing a different picture song... THE CURE! I figured it out.
@MASTER-MOD: I really like how a lot of your pictures aren't just one person or thing, but are small compositions. It's a small talent to be able to think that way, but it goes a long way. Have you checked out ZEB's website? You should really compare some of his "dream" pictures with that last picture he linked in the thread.
@SKID: The actor guy, I think, is Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, "That guy from Xena"). Don't feel bad when I critique you, but the ear is way off. I think you could benefit from some model/guide work. Do you see how in my last post, all but Shaun have some sort of guides in them (I erased most from the girl, but there are still some in her torso)? I know it's going to sound cheesy, but you might want to go to the library and check out "Drawing the Marvel Way." There are other good books on anatomy and guides, but this one is broken down for all ages to understand easily, so you can really flow through the book pretty swiftly and because of the name and author it's more likely to be at the library.
FUNNY STORY.
My friend was at a sci-fi convention party or gathering of some sort and his friend told him, "Hey, Bruce Campbell is here!" To which he replied, "Who's Bruce Campbell?" and Bruce, who happened to be standing behind him, said, "I'm that guy from Xena." Hilarious.

November 4th, 2004, 10:18 PM
mr.right - I'm glad you like the "girl." I was sketching out those particular characters with an idea in mind. I'm pretty sure I don't have them on my site, but I used to do this psuedo-comic of my first semester in college called "A day in my life." Anyway, the characters I was doodling that day, the ones I posted, I was going to use in an updated version of the old comic and see what happened. As an example I scanned this:
http://www.zebzero.com/images/Notebook89.jpg
from my Geology notes. It's sort of what I wanted to do with the "girl" character and her "effect" on the Zeb (me) character. There is sort of a real-life story behind this. Anyone can see that. I hope to play more with these characters in the future. Oh, and the Pat sketch is Ether, the same Ether that removed himself from this thread, and these forums a few months ago. We go way back.
I know that bit of a sequential I posted in this Reply is a bit cliche, sorry. I know damn well that that layout has been used time and time again, but like I said, I was trying things out. I find it useful to start with what I know, and then start to build upon and change it. It's like how you should know anatomy before you start making things up. Same deal.
Oh, and mr.right, where are some new images eh? Holding out on us or what? I find your style to be particularly inspirational and I've been trying to incorporate some of it into my own work to see what occurs. I like playing with things.
What else...
The Absolution Project is on a hiatus until I miraculously come up with a decent background idea to tie it all together. If anyone has any ideas, post them please. I'm thinking it'll come to me in a dream or some spontaneous gestalt, but you never know with the creative process.
Dutch - your mechanical pieces look to stiff and flat. The joints are awkward and the perspective, foreshortening is off on most of them. I'll elaborate more on this later, right now my hands are actually sore from typing...I've been at it for awhile (not just in this Reply).
NO Promises, but I'll try and have another update tomorrow night.
Later Kids.

Well, we're finally back up to three pages. Took long enough...
I hate to break it to you all, but I'm sketching quality things less and less in class these days. I have this awful tendency of falling into these habits of just doodling, and not sketching (you all should know the difference) and my doodles don't have enough significance to post here. Sorry.
Like I said though, these are habits, they come and go.
Oh, and another piece of bad news, classes are over for the semester in about four weeks. Then a bit of a hiatus, then I'm taking a Winter Session, so there shouldn't be to much of a lull...not like I haven't been slacking anyway, right?
Christ, the first time we did this, both mr.right and I were the top two contributors. This time around though (and I'm not complaining) we've got several others taking the top spots.
I'm happy to see so many new people taking up the cause and keeping this going.

I've also got me some good ideas based off of the Orestes Plays by Aeschyleus (sp?) that we've been going over in Biblical and Classical this week. The furies, or as my prof. calls them "primordial bitch demons from hell," would be a cool illustration to work on.
Or even, to step back into the biblical sense, the Judges. You know what I'm talking about right, those roaming priests that passed "judge"ment on people and what not.

So, anyone and EVERYONE that checks out this thread and made it this far, reply, start a new one in '05 or keep this one running until it dies of its own accord?
Obviously mr.right is voting for a fresh start in '05. I'm thinking though, that maybe we should make there some sort of incentive or something for contributing here.
Well, here's a sketch I did today, the big one, that I was using to try and figure out a background for this (http://www.zebzero.com/images/Landscape.jpg) drawing that I've been working on since Tuesday night:

I wish I was never forced to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, then, subsequently, addicted to that *cough* art *cough* form to such an extent that it is now so ingrained into my (and I'm using the term loosely) style that I'll need an exorcism, a shovel, some dynamite, and possibly giving birth to live snakes (keep in mind I'm male) to remove it.

Thread seems to be dying anyways, not sure if a 2005 is in order.

Classes end on Wednesday, then Finals. Winter Session starts January 3rd, so I won't be back really until after that.
Oh, and for a second I thought this thread died.

So, I'll be back in class in a week. Damn Winter Session.
Class're are about an hour and a half, lecture-ish, so expect some sketches. At least one a week. Probably more.
Oh, and I understand that it's winter break, what with Xmas just happening and all, so I'll be understanding with the lack of contributions.

This will be my first contribution in 05 to the DiC II thread, I'll do this every other week. I've been in class for two weeks as of tomorrow for Winter Session. If you don't know what that it, basically they cram the usual 13.5 weeks of material in to 5 weeks. Yeah, I've had a headache for about 5 days now.
Anyway, I've got seven small sketches here:

I'm posting these today instead of tomorrow night because I've got an exam and some crazy thing to do tomorrow, so there probably will not be any sketching going on.

More Squid versus Octopi, eh?
I've got some sketches; probably won't post for a day or two though. I need to get some things in order and right now I'm studying for the SATII which I'm taking tonight. It's been four years since I've taken math, so even though I made an A in calculus my senior year, I pretty much had to re-learn everything starting with Algebra (yes, I forgot basic algebra) this past month. Let's hope all the studying pays off because I really want to graduate this semester.

I really love all of your all's work, and I know this is totally OT,but dude... Your username (Zeb) is my dog's name. I swear I just thought that was funny. I might post a couple of my drawings as soon as i find them in the hell-hole I call my locker.

When I started calling myself Zeb years ago, I didn't think it was that common of a name. Then I read Shaw-Island...etc.
It's a shortened version of my last name and during high school it just stuck.
For my first three-four semesters in college no one knew that that wasn't my name, they all just called me Zeb.
I like it, it suits me. Hell, I have a personality that has completely evolved around the name. It's as if there are two of me. My Zeb half, and my other half.
Eh, I digress.
Dig out those drawings. We need to keep this alive.
mr.right, get on that. I hope it went well for you.

I love this topic
true creativity comes when u least expect it
I dunno if this is original but in ANAT/PHYSIOLOGY class, when we were studying squids and octopi (forget ther species), I had the crazy idea of making a squid into an arrow for design purposes.
I will try and save some of my work next time, usually do it on scraps of paper

SO. My webspace is still bieng bitchy and I can't upload anything using dreamweaver like I normally do (it's just faster and cleaner in my opinion), so I had to use an FTP program I don't like. Nonetheless, I've finally delivered.
If I ever get the time and money I'm going to get a new, more reliable site (read: doesn't crash my whole site when I try to use dreamweaver), and post a lot more than just my class notes.

great stuff everyone, glad you're respecting the holy tradition of drawing during school. school was made for that purpose anyway, to give us opportunities to draw, thats how some of us started to draw, and became good, say thanks to school, and study hard, and pay attention to the teacher, and wear thick glasses, and have A+ in your exams!!
most of them are done in Canada geography ( ohh, that's an awesome subject )
most of them done in a math notebook i always travel with me.
